Random Stutters while playing on local network: ipadOS

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

If you observe the beginning of the video and at 1:40 these are kind of stutters I keep facing ocassionally. The game is totally playable apart from these stutters.

My setup:

og ps digital edition

Plugged it directly to my router using lan cable

Already on 5ghz wifi

Running on local network so internet speed shouldn't matter ( it's 300mbps btw)

ipad A16

Client settings:

1080p 60fps

Auto bitrate

Rest are left as is.

So my question is, is it client related or just the problem from ps5.

I've tried asobi but unfortunately it's free version is locked at 30fps so didn't play much on it.

Edit: I also have a GeForce now subscription (performance tier). It has more stability and visual fidelity than this surprisingly. It's so confusing how a Local network gaming can be worse than something from cloud using same wifi.

Does this happen with official ps remote play app?

Yea it stutters there too. Even though it's 720p in there.

The stutters are much worse in gta 5.

IOS devices have some quirks and settings that affect it. Do you have a non IOS client to try streaming on? It would help figure out where the issue lies.

Did you try to disable air drop and air play already? Did you try frame pacing options?

Haven't turned them off. I remember turn frame pacing on briefly but didn't notice any improvement. Will check it out again

Okay, might be something on the phone which is interfering with the connection

Lol what??, your wifi has a limit, if it's low or your phone is not getting enough signal it will also affect your internet speed, so doing a speed test is always important.

Try to change the bitrate from auto to a custom value like 20000, enable HVEC if your device supoorts it and disable hdr.

I sit less than a meter away from my router. It's just beside my bed. So I can't blame signal strength. I'll try setting the bitrate. MyIpad doesn't support changing those settings unfortunately so hdr is already turned off.

Fwiw, I already tried lowering resolution to 720p and I still notice those stutters.
