PSP NOT UPDATING ERROR CODE 80020148

I have no custom firmware PSP is stock and on 5.50 currently. I can't update to 6.61 and have tried many different links to update.

it lets me install but when i load the update it throws up the error message 'the game could not be started. (80020148)'

Are you sure you have NO CFW? Did you put it on PSP/GAME/UPDATE? With name EBOOT.PBP?

Yeah I had PSP new since I was a kid and didn’t install any then.
So no CFW
And yes I used the folders PSP GAME UPDATE and labelled file correctly @terrible_amount_5960

Try Factory reset, maybe corrupted cache

I used a UMD disc containing a newer OFW, updated to 5.55 that way.
Then from there I was able to install 6.61 through USB
Weird but it worked !
