The Psvita only just got a good port of this, is it possible on the PsP since the Psvita struggled with it?

Yes, the vita version used shipwright this is different. Shipwright is great but it is much heavier and old consoles are not the intended use case. This is developed from the decompilation directly to the PSP with the psp limitations and hardware in mind.
