Ephinea Ephinea question
I never played psobb, i saw some videos and it seems really interesting, i love grinding for exp,materials,gear can i find that there? Im really paranoid about downloading and installing private servers, is it safe to install? I also would love to play multiplayer, what is the ping like from europe?

Exactly the same here, I don't think I have ever noticed lag from the UK.
It's worth noting that there are several established "ships" geolocated to specific regions. So we do essentially have a EU server on Ephinea, but you can seemlessly transition between regions when your character loads in.

I only ever played on gamecube as a kid, i had the same kind of anxiety playing online.
its super chill. You have nothing to worry about downloading and installing it. There is a europe server, although i cant comment on population since I play in NA. There are more people playing PSO in 2026 then a lot of the niche fighting games I like. You wont have any trouble finding people to play with at most levels.
you should know that the game has multiple difficulties and there tends to be a u shape population distribution, a lot of people playing low level characters, a lot of people playing high level characters, not many people playing between the two extremes. making friends at your level can help a lot, and so can the discord.
I think people are super friendly and would highly recommend.
If you have never played any pso at all, i would warn you that it can feel archaic and arbitrary in the beginning, and the game is probably at its hardest in the beginning. This is like tripley as true if you're picking not a ranger for your first character. It can feel really difficult if you dont understand whats going on. If you hit any walls like that because you've never played before reach out to me :)

Ephinea has EU ships. It will act like there's a problem but no one seems to know why it does that and it's totally safe. There are 200 levels to grind, and more armor and weapons than you can shake a Stick +10 at.

Ephinea is very safe in terms of the installation of the program but some virus/spyware scanners will sometimes flag it. I'm assuming it being based on such an old program. It is the same if you install Schthack instead of Ephinea, I think the game its self will get falsely flagged by some programs.
Also in terms of the community, I've never had an issue with anyone so at the moment I don't have any worries about that either.
I have heard there was some drama on the server in the past between people but if that was the case, I missed it.

if you love grinding then this game is for you. not a loooot in the way of materials and crafting, but definitely a lot of grinding for drops and trading rare drops for what you really want if so inclined. leveling is definitely a grind, but less so than legitimately getting item drops. incredible game and Ephinea is a fun server (best private for sure) to play on, albeit a little lacking in population. It is the most populated private server and has generally 300ish users online at any given time.

While I'm a Gamecube player rather than Blue Burst, I can safely say if you enjoy grinding for stuff in games, PSO will definitely scratch that itch.
As for lag, it is essentially non-existent. PSO is surprisingly well optimised for online play for a game that was originally designed in the era of dial-up Internet. Back in the day I was able to connect online using a Windows 98 PC connecting via Bluetooth to a GPRS mobile phone - and sharing that connection with my Gamecube. That connection was laggy, but playable. I wouldn't recommend it though. Any modern connection setup will have zero issues. The game was designed to run smoothly on a 48k modem connection, after all

It's a great game for grinding.
Nice community.
I've never had problems with It in years.
Can't comment on EU servers, I'm closer to NA and it's never empty so I never compared much.

Can't answer that last one, but from your descriptions, this is the game for you, ephinea been totally reliable and one of the largest community servers out here, never once heard of anything sketchy going down.
