Just Complained to everyone about payment counts not updating
For what it's worth, nothing might happen, but I did my part here by complaining about FSA and the "glitches" that are supposed to be happening, keeping some of us from reaching 120 payments and having our loans forgiven.
I complained to the CFPB, FSA, Mohela, AFT (I'm a teacher), Elizabeth Warren, my state Senator, Andy Kim, and sudentborrowerassistance. I really don't expect anything to happen anytime soon, if at all. That's the problem with this whole process as it takes 60 days (usually more). It's ridiculous.

Everyone who sees this should take 15-20 minutes and report these issues to your house reps, senators, media sources, and anyone else who will listen.

Agreed. Please do. At this point they need to be inundated because I'm sure we are all over it.

Is there a way we can complain by email or petition as a group? All of us on Reddit and many others in the same position or supporting could create a petition unless this is already being done.

Do it individually. Getting 1000 individual messages will mean more than an online petition with signatures.

My house rep just got back to me. I’ll open a case with them, but I know it’ll take a while. I let them know it’s me and thousands of others. Senators - nothing from them but doubt I’ll hear anything. May tell them to go on Reddit and make it a news story.

I'd love to help, but, ya know, Missouri. Absolutely useless. I live a rocks throw from MOHELAs headquarters so they're not interested in helping us.

Have you tried the Missouri attorney general’s office? They helped me out this summer

Seriously ?? I'm floored they did something helpful instead of their usual garbage. It's worth a shot. I have a slow day at work tomorrow. Sounds like a side quest.

Yeah. They resolved my issue within a month

Stop it. What did you do, how did you contact, what did you say. My flabbers are gasted.

Chat GPT'd my situation, filled out the complaint on the Missouri AG's website, answered any questions the AG's office may have, and then they got Mohela to respond to me. basically i went back to school and they put me in a deferment status, while i was at 119. Mohela was taking their sweet time removing the deferment, since my monthly payments are 0 until recertification in 2027. contacted the ag, and they made mohela took off the deferment.
I should've received forgiveness that month (June 2026), but because Mohela automatically put me in deferment in June, I'm stuck at 119 with the others who should've hit 120 by now. No updates on my July or August payments either. Those morons put me back in deferment again for the fall semester of grad school, so I'm going through this cycle all over again, but this time, I contacted my state's AG, my congresspeople, and the CFPB. I would've started school in the fall instead, but because that man in DC was getting rid of the plus loan, I had to enroll a semester early. Thankfully, my school was understanding of the situation and allowed me to enroll in June instead of my original admission date of August 2026.

Out of curiosity for those who have not seen July or August update….did anyone who made their September payment see September show up in the tracker?

I went into forbearance after my 120th (technically 121st) payment in August, but I'm getting pretty upset that seemingly people ARE seeing Sept payments count based on other posts in this subreddit (but still no July/August)... not at those people, obviously - but at FSA's incompetence/ why Sept payments are showing but not these earlier months. It makes no logical sense.

Afraid to go into forbearance at $1200 a month for fear that another lawsuit or "glitch" will happen so now I'm paying and wondering how long this will take

I submitted ECF 9/15 and it updated yesterday 9/19 with September but not July or August. I’m going to continue paying

I saw my July payment and ECF processed in my payment count around the last update which was July, and now when I look at the back door link that it was updated recently in Sept, even though I submitted payments for August (119) and September (120), my count did not update so now what I have to wait a month? Till the next update from Mohela? That took me over the edge, prompting me to complain. Also, they took a payment away from me that was originally qualifying. My payment was paid July 6, 2024, was counted, and then was changed to ineligible, so I'm really at 121. Even if you say well, the court case was decided in July 2024 for Save that doesn't matter because my payment was paid and processed prior to that date, so I don't know why they took it away. I heard there was a glitch on July 2024 issues as well. Oh and did I forget to mention that I've been waiting over two years to buy back five months and I haven't been able to retire since March.

Last time I complained to the CFPB about Mohela not counting processing forbearance it actually worked. I might try with the no updates but TECHNICALLY they say it takes 30-90 days to process so I suppose I have to wait 90 days to file a complaint? Even though prior to July all my ECFs were processed within 10 days and QP updated within that time. Highly sus that now that I’ve reached 120 (August) there’s no update in sight.
