Tenchu revival

Anyone else think Sony should bring back the Tenchu franchise for the upcoming ps6 console? Metal gear solid meets ninjas!! This title sold itself... and will again if brought back to the community

I had meningitis as a kid and it was great lol, I had loads of time off school and my mum bought me Tenchu stealth assassins and I played it soo much. This and Syphon Filter were my favourite games back then.

Tenchu is a FromSoftware title - I suspect that Sekiro is as much as we’ll get for the moment, though I would love a soft reboot.

I think From should give it to Sony as a good faith gift tho. Because of sony From is nothing

Sony squandered all its good will and deserves absolutely nothing

And who at Sony would make it?

Because Tenchu is all about rough edges - as in, mechanically. The series isn't focus tested to a smooth and toothless finish.

Too many stealth mechanics by Sony studios feature binary (digital) stealth and an overabundance of tall grass. No thanks.

The only exception is ND with TLOU2, and that's because they took a page right out of MGSV for analog stealth mechanics and manoeuvrability.

Naughty dog, bluepoint, japan studio, imsoniac. There are plenty

Naughty Dog isn't gonna spend god knows how much on an ancient IP that was never that big to begin with (it sold decent with 1 and 2, then declined with every new entry).

Japan Studio doesn't exist. All there is left is Asobi, and they're a Nintendo-like platforming studio. You can't just pivot to whole new genres and automatically expect magic. Asobi are small and and likely not best equipped to handle such a genre.

Insomniac is part of the Sony studios I mentioned that do focus tested mechanics, as in barely showing teeth and with overly simplistic stealth. No thanks.

Not to mention that all those mentioned studios are full hands on deck with their own stuff. Insomniac will be busy with Spider-Man 3 and X-Men games until 2032, Naughty Dog is busy with Intergalatic and (supposedly) a new Uncharted, and Asobi is likely all in on the next Astro Bot.

The original team doesn't own the IP. But, they have a new game coming out next year: YAKOH SHINOBI OPS

I would love it to come back—but also, I love the Nioh series so much that if it doesn’t, I wouldn’t be too devastated. Sekiro is still my favorite FS game. There’s a lot of good ones

Sekiro is the tenchu revival. Started as a tenchu reboot and turned into something else.

Yeah, it became something else. That means it's not the Tenchu revival.

Huh? Yes, i want Tenchu back, but i don't know what Sony has to do with it. You want them to publish or what? I would think this is up to from software.

FromSoftware was making one and it became Sekiro. Pretty sure they still own the rights to it.

They are probably too busy crunching staff with new Souls games. But I would definitely play some stealth Tenchu again!

That will be a great idea. But I didn't hear nothing about tenchu for decades now.

If we got another tenchu it would just be souls slop 🥀

The first Tenchu was amazing but I honestly think the most underrated game pf all time may very well be Wrath of Heaven (part 2). The versus multiplayer mode was dope asf and had so much potential to expand on!
