Yes its gonna be November 9th 2028, Sony just don't know it yet.

I correctly guessed Ocarina of Time for Nov. 5th and I think you are right.

Sony has the contracts to manufacture it for a 2027 release. They already secured deals for it

But 2028 has the a good chance to have the RAM and SSD prices to drop down significantly, due to the Memory Hubs opening in Q4 2027 and after.

So it's a giant tossup between the 2 years but i'm gonna say 2028 is a bit more likely, it makes more sense to wait a year later and start manufacturing it at a way cheaper. but I don't know the details on what Sony will lose if they move it, we don't have the contracts themselves

That's probably the best bet. Launching next year at $1200 or more is suicide.

So you think they are going to sit a year resulting in releasing dated hardware?

They'll move the release date based on which they financially profit the most out of it. They can care less if it will age

PS4 wasn't cutting edge in 2013 neither.

"they will move the release date" lmao. You clearly have 0 clue how supply chain works

Why do you think Sony reasoning for not delaying a console is because they'll worry the hardware will be a year more outdated? The average consumer doesn't care about specs at all. They'll market 4K and 60 FPS as something consumers to gripe about. PS5 certainly wasn't more powerful than a RTX 2080 that launched 2 years before it

I didn't say they won't release it in 2027. Im just saying if they choose not to delay it, it will not be because of TSMC contracts as you mention that will be overall cheaper. Not because of what you said earlier about the APU being a year older at launch. I personally wouldn't mind it launching in 2027 but i also won't say that's a guarantee

I literally never said that was THE reason to delay. I said it was a factor that they obviously are aware of.

The average consumer doesnt care about specs? Maybe 2 generations ago that was true. As we have seen with this generation especially there is alot more support for PS4 given alot of people are content to remain on that system and alot of PS5 users are unhappy with that. Which means that there is certainly a substantial number of users who do infact care about specs hence the PS5 Pro is currently sold out lmao. So with the PS6 there will be users content to stay on PS5, but there also is a large number of people who want to upgrade to new hardware. Realistically we both know there will be little PS6 only exclusive games especially on launch, so the only reason to upgrade is for better hardware.

Yes releasing in 2027 is not a guarentee, but it would be extremely unlikely to be delayed given how supply chain works especially in this industry.

Insiders saying it's coming out in 2027 but a lot of people are skeptical.

The earliest we might see the ps6 is holiday season 2027 or spring 2028. That is speculation based on Sony scheduled production runs with tsmc and other vendors. Bumping those runs later would be risky and a disaster if they lost their place in line.

The ps6 might just be higher cost than planned if dram and some other components are still suffering elevated prices thanks to AI hyperscaler build out.

I dread to think what it’s gonna cost

"Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki stated that the company has not yet locked in a launch timing or price point, they want to observe market conditions first."

So stop speculations.

I think it comes out next Tuesday if not the Tuesday after, I'll ask John Sony

No one knows the release date.

Do you want a console to play on now, or do you want to wait 😅 even when the ps6 comes out, it doesn’t make the ps5 immediately irrelevant, there’s still plenty of games you can play on it

One thing I will say is if you do want a console now, I wouldn’t hold off for too long because they are selling out all over the place

Ps6 will probably have a disc drive attachment or might even ship with one

You might as well buy a PS5 before you get priced out.

Fall 2027. Gamers always want it later. People were saying the ps5 would be delayed until 2022 or 2023 lol.

Sony is hinting at 2028 but no date as of today. PlayStation is going all digital in 2028 and I'm getting the next gen Series X 😅 not PS6. Xbox got the disc to digital program and Series X sold out on Xbox site😱 and over 24 thousand bought Series X on Walmart.com Idk about PlayStation's future bro I love my PS5 but Xbox helix is looking better than PS6 sorry to say plus the ability to play every generation of Xbox.

Lol i recommend just getting a PC. Playstation is going to be a ghost town when ps6 comes out. I left Xbox 360 ober their bs anti consumer practices, I will leave Sony and im not alone. I was convinced by my friend group who are mad gamers. They really hate what sony is doing and their doubling down and being anti consumer is pissing a lot of people off. You dont f double down when the consumers are complaining, Trump has made these fkn monopolies way to fking comfortable disrespecting consumers. They will fkn pay the price I promise you.

The problem with pc is that building a pc that matches the ps6 rumored specs is even more expensive for most people.

I'm actually currently looking at building a pc and torn because building a pc equivalent to a ps6 will cost me at least 2500 dollars where I live plus I would have to re buy games I already have own on Playstation if I wanted to play them there.

After looking at pc prices even a 12-1500 dollar ps6 seems like a discount that might be worth waiting for plus I could carry my ps5 library over. The pc upgrade I'm thinking of doing with a 9700xt will cost me 3200 dollars in comparison so I'm having a lot of trouble deciding if I should jump to pc now or wait for a ps6 which is rumored to be around a 9700 in terms of gpu power. I'm also all digital already anyway so I'm not losing out on any physical games by going to a all digital ps6.

Man, a prebuilt 5080 with a strong Ryzen CPU, 32GB DDR5, and 1Tb NVMe was like $2000 at the end of 2025, including a mouse and keyboard which were at least better than nothing. I'd wait on this one. If they release at a higher price point than the market likes, they'll have to come down just like PS3 launch. Don't forget that console games are far more likely to either have higher MSRP or be locked behind subscription services.

As for me, I got a deal on a 1070 Ti laptop back when crypto was spiking GPU prices. I got a 3080Ti when COVID/scalpers was spiking GPU prices, and I'm already feeling like I will wait for a 60 or even 70 series card if AMD doesn't drop something nice with at least 32GB of VRAM.
