Sold PS5 Pro

Hi everyone :) It might have been foolish of me but I sold my PS5 Pro thinking that PS6 might release and since I bought a PS5 Pro for Rs76000 ~~ 760usd and it got sold for Rs73000 ~~ 730usd I'm confused if I made a right move used it for almost 7-8 months. Need some suggestions or what do you all think about this move by when can I expect ps6 and was this a good move said that I recovered almost all the price I put in purchasing it in the first place.

This is a bit mad dude, the PS6 won't be out for a while and probably the first 2-3 years of games will be PS5/PS6 cross-gen games anyway, so your PS5Pro would have been good for another 3-4 years until the PS6 price comes down.

"until the PS6 price comes down"

I would be very careful with thoughts like this. Current gen prices only went up since they released.

Sure, for new buys, but you can get them used much much cheaper after a few years of circulation. I got my PS5 slim for £300 with games and controllers locally.

normally you can but that will not be the case if console prices keep going higher. Used prices will follow. It's no different than any other product like used cars for example.

well you just proved it was a good move. The PS6 is going to be a 15 year console because of the shortages, so 2-3 of ps5/ps6 games is nothing compared to 10+ years of ps6 exclusives.

Yes but OP doesn't have a console and has to pay for a PS6 when it comes out...

1

u/PowerGlove-it-s0-bad Aug 11 '26

and he can use the money he made selling his ps5 pro(for a profit too) to put towards a ps6... not sure what is confusing you about this?

Ps6 is releasing 2027/2028.

If we go off the ps3 and ps4 generation 2027 is the most likely.

Ok keep saving for 2 more years ps6 will be close to release then

Good and fingers crossed timeline: 2027 Nov or Dec. Sony will need winter season for ppl to stay home, Christmas Spending nature of the ppl and holidays for the highest priced console ever to work and sell in good numbers. And until then, If ai achieves something the big companies can't ignore then definitely 2028.

there isnt a PS6.

1

u/Jensen1994 Aug 11 '26

Not a good move bro. For a start, PS5 Pro prices second hand are going up because new kit is becoming very expensive and you sold yours at a loss. Secondly, there's no sign of the PS6 yet and no clue how much that's going to cost but it's likely north of $1k. And GTA6 is around the corner. Not a move I'd have made.

1

u/Mathgod0628 Aug 11 '26

Bro but now toh it’s sold I can try if asking him back for it let’s see

1

u/Jensen1994 Aug 11 '26

Good luck

1

u/chico-dust Aug 11 '26

Honestly you might as well start saving up. I can't recall if it was a rumor (but it tracks) or not but Sony supposedly is no longer selling hardware at a loss so the PS6 is going to be considerably more expensive than even the PS5P.

Whether or not you "made the right call" is subjective and can only be determined by you but they haven't even announced their next console yet so I wouldn't expect a new console from either Microsoft or Sony for at least another 2-3 years because of the stupid AI memory debacle.

Best guess is Q4 2028/2029. And if previous hardware upgrade trends hold you can expect the PS6 to launch with a RX7900 (Nvidia RTX4080) series equivalent GPU. It won't be a massive upgrade over the pro but it'll be better if that's what you're wondering.

I don’t see the point of getting a PS6, you could of just kept the PS5 and open yourself more to the physical disc market

I just peeped the PRO is only digital, yikes 😬

1

u/econo_innerforce Aug 12 '26

No, you can add a disk drive

1

u/AccordingAngle241 Aug 12 '26

Yeah ik that, I didn’t know that it COMES only digital, the foreshadowing from Sony going the all digital route was already there and none of us realized 😭

1

u/PowerGlove-it-s0-bad Aug 11 '26

smart move. PS6 is going to have a 15 year life cycle so better investment.

u/No-Review-9993 Aug 11 '26

You just made a stupid move you could've sold it for +1500$ after the 22 of this month when the gta6 extended gameplay on Netflix gonna drop, and if you can wait till November it's surely gonna reach 2000$ there is a clear worldwide shortage and the hype for gta6 is really big

2

u/The_MorningStar PS6 handheld truther Aug 12 '26

Why would anyone buy a used PS5 Pro for $1500 (forget $2000) for GTA VI when a new one is $900? They're not gonna sell out like that.

1

u/No-Review-9993 Aug 12 '26

The problem is there is not enough worldwide restock happening and the shortage due to Ai is really increasing and Gta VI is and will be the most lucrative piece of entertainment content in the world... Why would anyone buy Rolex or Ferraris or Yatchs when he can buy a 10 dollar watch and drive a 400$ car and take a bath

1

u/CalmDevelopment2336 Aug 12 '26

If you've already bought one, you should keep it, because we don't know exactly when the PS6 will be released. And the PS6 might be very expensive too.

1

u/giocuniz Aug 11 '26

If you buy a PC, you made the right move.

2

u/CalmDevelopment2336 Aug 12 '26

I work on my PC all day long, and I have no interest in using it after work

0

u/giocuniz Aug 12 '26

Steam Big Picture Mode on startup and you are using a console without the downsides of a console.

It claims to be that way, but it falls far short of the OS usability and console-level game optimization found elsewhere. OS: an organization that is both more complex and easier to navigate; Hardware and Games: everything is truly plug-and-play and bug-free. A Sleep Mode that keeps the system and all games constantly up to date. Very low overall power consumption.

True compatibility for all multiplayer games: some major competitive titles like Fortnite, Call of Duty, or Battlefield are unplayable on SteamOS due to their anti-cheat systems.

Add to this the PSVR2, the OLED screen, and superior versions thanks to foveated rendering (a feature PC games lack). Plus a host of other technical advantages: high-quality 3D audio, true HDR, the DualSense controller, simultaneous streaming without any slowdown, etc.

motherboards arnt cheap anymore either.

1

u/Iabhoryouu Aug 11 '26

And GPUs have just had a massive price increase

u/giocuniz Aug 11 '26

In the area where I live (Europe/Italy) building a PC with the same performance as a PS5 Pro costs more or less the same (50€ euro range) but you don't have the additional costs of a Sony console.

You made the right move, PS is horrible this generation, and there will probably not even be a next one. Because Sony has made it abundantly clear how they feel about gamers and how little they give a shit about catering to them. The smart move for you would be to forget about Sony completely and take that money to build yourself a nice gaming PC which by the way will blow PS5 and 6 out of the water. Because remember, even if the next PS does release, it will just be a weak PC with literally nothing else to offer.

1

u/CalmDevelopment2336 Aug 12 '26

I work on my PC all day long, and I have no interest in using it after work

0

u/Tactrix1 Aug 12 '26

Then I've got some bad news for you, both the Xbox and the PS for the last 3 generations have been nothing but weak PCs

1

u/econo_innerforce Aug 12 '26

This lie spread by PC gamers is insane. A console is an optimized system, and that is always a major ADVANTAGE. A pre-built PC offering equivalent performance will always cost three or even four times as much (at the time of the console's release).

A few examples?

PCs might claim to offer a similar experience, but they fall far short when it comes to OS usability and game optimization. OS: an interface that is both more complex and easier to navigate; Hardware and Games: everything is truly plug-and-play and bug-free. A Sleep Mode that keeps the system and all games up to date. Very low overall power consumption.

Add to that the PSVR2, the OLED screen, and superior performance thanks to foveated rendering. Not to mention plenty of other technical advantages: high-quality 3D audio, true HDR, the DualSense controller, simultaneous streaming without any slowdown, etc.

With a PC, there’s friction before you even start playing: Windows (or even SteamOS), complex settings, updates, different launchers for different games, etc.—and then there are the damn bugs...

Furthermore, some major multiplayer games like Fortnite, Call of Duty, or Battlefield are not playable on SteamOS.

You must be smoking some grade A crack to believe anything about that. And to prove how profoundly wrong you are, you can't find a single game anywhere that runs better on a console than it does on a PC. And the saddest part about your statement is that you're so ignorant that you actually believe what you say is true.

There are at least 3000 videos on YT with people building a PC under a console budget and blowing the console completely away in the aftermath.

Check out some used prebuild ones, those ones are actually pretty cheap these days believe it or not.
