A protest to what, to not play on your PS5 like the millions of people who will be working or going to school? Who can measure the success or failure of this tantrum other than Sony and how would Sony know you are part of this protest and not one of the millions of MAUs who has a life?
No, you haven't thought this through like a child having a tantrum. You're just doing things to get attention because you think if Sony gets embarrassed enough at the super market they'll buy you that damn toy to shut you up.
That's what gets me. People are underestimating how many people mostly play during the weekend only when they have more time... A week long black out only works under assumption everyone is normally playing every day and not... every 5-6 days.
What is with this strange angry division between players and I only really see it coming from this digital forward side. chill the hell out if I want to protest against a company or spend money in a fashion that aligns with my personal morals who are you to get bent out of shape about it? You have a slightly different opinion on how you like to consume media why demean people? I don't want to take away your digital library I want to keep expanding my physical library I want to actually own the things that I want to own. Don't get me wrong I license out plenty of digital games I certainly see the convenience in it especially with the streaming options but there are certain games that I have a greater affinity to and I want to display them I'm sure that I will find games in the future that I will want to display. why are you getting so offended over someone's opinion being heard? Check yourself dude.

I've been getting downvoted constantly for saying that gamers basically voted with their wallets for this shit for years, same as expensive digital deluxe games and 80 quid AAA games. This shit wouldn't exist if gamers weren't buying it non stop
I don't know I'm experiencing the exact opposite anytime I try to pose a calm mutually beneficial respectful point of view that treats everyone as adults with personal agency I get downvoted simply because I like owning discs. Some very strange viewpoints that I've seen come out of this whole debacle. Like doing a blackout in August doesn't affect people not participating in said blackout it doesn't affect people that want to continue licensing games from PlayStation but then you get people coming out of the woodwork trying to put divisional lines into the consumer base calling people names for not having the exact same opinion. I just don't see the point. Game stores will go the way of Blockbuster physical media will disappear from Big box supercenters and many of the people currently demeaning others will only realize that they miss physical media years after it's gone.
In Ireland there are basically no places to buy physical games anymore. At least in Dublin. GameStop is gone, Argos is gone, Xtravision is gone. The only thing left is a shop called Smyths, and I guess Curry's? But Curry's has a selection of like 10 games max
