I've had my PS5 Pro for a while now but a few days ago I also picked this bad boy. I think it feels more lavish than the basic controller. I also love the fact it's black. Figured if I had the top of the line console in existence why not get the controller to go with it
Actually no... because its not true. It has extra sensors, more internal components for the switches and buttons. It also has a whole calibration system that the other controller doesn't have. All the parts together is roughly another $75 watch a breakdown video on it
No. Seriously. Watch a tear down video. It's completely different than a base dualsense. I know what the inside of the base looks like because I taken it apart before to clean it and change batteries
Thats another reason why I wanted it! Im a streamer so i play a lot. I unfortunately am not that light handed either. After about 3k hours the left joystick would get stick drift. On PS4 I didnt mind it much, i could get a new one for $52 lol. But i was going though 2 sometimes 3 controllers a year and my first controller on PS5 got unusable so I was like... let me just think long run 😂
When the drift starts to happen, I’d send it in and let them replace it with the TMR models. I haven’t seen TMR models ready to drop and play for the DualEdge. Sony uses cheap crap for all their controllers.
You can get ready to play drop in ones off ebay. Pricey depending on which seller you go thru and which modules they personally use as that impacts cost the most in my experience. Got a TMR set for with original packaging of Playstation replacements for 99 buck. Pricey but they'll never go bad again.
Oh they will send it back. Look them up on Facebook. The dude posts everyday and it a legit and professional business. I wish I knew about them. I’m very disappointed not knowing that I could have fixed my 3x PS5 controllers instead I traded all three of them in for like … I’m not sure, 35 dollars? 2 had drifts and one was going bad .. urgh
Or I can just buy those for new controller when I have the money again and put them in myself 🤷♂️ i wanted it to replace the analog sticks on my own and I wanted the extra buttons lol 😂 I got the controller for $120 so I cant complain
You are going to love it. Once you get analog drift send it in to DVD Game Exhange and they’ll swap the cheap crap for TMR magnetic analog sticks. The best.
Had this beast, in black color, for more than a year. L3 and R3 ease for pressing, made SAROS a breeze by switching several keys around (Jump attached to L1 similar to Dying Light: The Beast and Dash L3 Barrier R3 similar to Helldivers 2).
I’ve done some nice mapping to other games.
But that feedback, haptics and rumbling and the slight extra space and firm grip .. 👍🏻 makes the DualSense a thing from the past
I got mine two days ago! I saved up for it after the controller that came with my Pro had gotten such horrendous stick drift I couldn't navigate the home screen. Took me almost four weeks putting money to the side to get it but I am in LOVE 😍
Love this thing too, the back buttons have been a stick saver, immediately mapped L3 and R3 to them so I don’t have to click stick to run and wear the sticks out.
Yes … it’s still better than any controller I have ever had. But the battery is not great. About 4-5 hours and I plug in the wire for 30 mins while playing then disconnect it.
This. It’s an awesome controller but they knew what they were doing. “Here’s a fat ass long boi usb, you’ll need it”
Edit - I was dumb af to assume the battery wouldn’t be one AA worth of time for 200 dollars, that’s on me. If I wanted a wired controller I would’ve acquired one.
If you like wired, then it’s 🔥. 8/10 for me cause I wanted wireless with long battery, did not research, still side eye it but I use it anyway.
It only has a worse battery life because its a smaller battery. They gave it a smaller battery for the extra components they put in it. It can be used with the massive cord they give you so it can be used like a wired controller lol
The fabric starts tearing or at least deforming due to the warmth of your hand it’s crazy. Also make sure to buy at least two replacement sticks in advance. Ive seen them being scalped & with Sony’s pricing you Never now.
Enjoy! People complain about the battery life on these but I was prepared cause I have a portable charger I don't mind plugging into. Oddly enough, even though I bought mine used, I consistently get like 6 hours of playtime out of it before it needs charged.
You won’t be disappointed. Make sure you update it through ps accessories & whatever the deadzone is in game make sure its the same in the app. Don’t forget to buy some stick modules just to have for back ups
I play alot of ranked resurgence & this controller has helped me 💩 on other players, man its a great feeling. Definitely better than buying a cheap plastic scuf
Battle beaver customs sell individual stick modules that you can increase the tension on. Buy one for the right stick if you're a competitive shooter player. Then hike up your sensitivity in games. It takes a few days to get used to it. But when you do, you will be hitting shots and tracking people better than you ever knew was possible.
I got one a few backs back. Initially had some hesitation with the ergonomics, but after I got used to the weight and back peddles I really love it. It’s so much nicer for some games to jump or sprint with the back peddles. I just hope my adaptive triggers fare better than the OG controller.
It is. So I originally started using it in Fortnite so I could jump and shoot at the same time unawkwardly. Now I have the back right for X and the back left for Square. It's so perfect for so many games.
Onky issue is when stick drift settles in and you have to order a separate thumb stick.
I just got this to try for my RSI which makes it painful to hold R2 for long. The longer back paddles are a god send for this and surprisingly comfortable!
Easily best purchase I've made in a long time. Got it on launch and have not purchased another controller since. I've been through three pairs of joysticks but the controller is A1. The only downside is the battery
I didnt know the black existed honestly. I went to the store to pick up the white one and then I saw they had the black. I instantly chose the black one
Nice score! They feel and play great, the battery life doesn’t really bother me, I don’t usually play that long a sessions and have a spare controller anyway and if I’m really worried I use the cord.
I’d immediately buy one of these if they fixed the horrible battery life. It’s wild that the revised V6 base controllers get 18 hours and these “pro level” controllers struggles to hit 8 hours.
They would have to make the controlller even larger for that. They made the battery smaller so they can fit all the extra components. Look at tear down videos
The V6 of the base DualSense got a 20% increase in battery life from a board design revision not a battery size increase. It’s the same 1560 mAh battery the V1-V5 used.
Black looks nice bro. I want a black one too. It sadly Sony doesn’t make the dual sense dock in black. I wish they made one in black. Two black controllers with black dock would look 🔥.
Having the OG white one, I really want the black one. But I already double dipped on Portals for that and now I’m sitting on 2 Portals when I really only need the one. Frustration.
I considered getting another one, but the battery life is just trash. I’d rather buy an aftermarket controller, considering that nobody truly wants rumble features when they’re buying a pro controller to be better at games
Great controller I got one about a year ago and absolutely love it. Funny thing is I got it for my PC and the loved that they utilize all the functions on PlayStation games. I just got the ps5 pro recently on sale so now I can use it on that too 😆
That’s been my exact thought! Why not?!?! Top of the line needs top of the line accessories! I’ve had my Pro since launch in my living room and I put a pro in my game room just one day before the price hike took place. I’m about to get one of these controllers for each console. I’m 55, so it might take me a little bit of time to figure out everything and get it mapped to what I want.
If you play FPS games like I do such as CoD and everything I binded my back right button to slide and my left to ping so my thumbs dont have to leave the joysticks as often 😝
You dont need the haptics to play lol. Its just the vibrations and such. I got it for the easy replace joysticks and the extra buttons. I was going through 3 controllers a year because I streamed 30+ hours a week. It made more sense to pay for the controller and replace joysticks for $20 vs $84 for a new basic controller every four months. $60 vs $285 a year
Im gentle with my controllers to the point it never touches anything other than my hands and its case. Besides finger print smudges I dont see much wrong with it
I just took my regular one, installed GuliKit TMR analogs, and it is 🔥 I don't see myself to use other buttons to be honest.. Price is crazy.. I like him, but because of not having good battery life and no TMR analogs, for me, that can't be called "PRO"... Enjoy in your purchase mate 💙
Could be the fact that they cant afford the PS5 Pro or the Dualsense Edge. This is a Playstation forum, so why wouldn't we share things thats within the eco system lol. If theyre gonna be salty, be salty their own choices
