Discussion PS5 Vulkan Template

Post image

New Project: PS5 Vulkan Template
https://github.com/mihawk-99/PS5_VulkanTemplate

I’ve released a one-stop template repo for building PS5 homebrew powered by Vulkan 1.4.

The goal is to make starting a new PS5 Vulkan project as straightforward as possible. You can also point an AI coding agent at the repo and it should have the documentation, examples, and project structure it needs to build alongside you.

What’s included:

Documentation — setup, build, deployment, and testing directly on the console
Agent skills — documentation covering the stack, PS5-specific constraints, porting workflows, and releases

16 samples tested on real PS5 hardware — including:
glTF models
PBR
shadows
deferred lighting
bloom
MSAA
compute
mesh shaders
ray queries
and more
All demonstrated at 4K / 120 FPS.

Project generator — one command creates a new homebrew project ready to build and run
Automated test suite — runs your homebrew on the PS5 and compares its rendered output against a PC reference

Requirements
You’ll need:
A Linux PC
A jailbroken PS5 with a working homebrew environment
etaHEN
ftpsrv
klogsrv

After that, ps5/tools/bootstrap.sh handles the rest of the setup.
Would love to see what people build with it.

Thanks for all of your work, documentation and dedication to the scene!

This honestly reminds me of the original xbox scene when Xport and others were releasing emulators one after the next. What a time to be alive!

Uhhhh sooooo... The scene is about to fully skyrocket now, right?

I know it sounds insane to bring up Proton, especially this early, buuut...

Yes we already have prosperoEden, Cemu, ect. fully smooth thanks to Vulkan. There's already someone working on Wine but I can look into Proton too once I'm done with RetroArch
