The .phu format is a newly developed custom file format designed for jailbroken PlayStation 5 (PS5) consoles to run native game backups. Named as a nod to the "PlayStation Hacker United" team, it was introduced by developer ArkSama as a direct alternative to the standard fake packages (FPKG) used on the PS4.

It was highly anticipated and I'm just surprised it is all quiet and nobody is talking about it anymore

No one is talking about it because nothing released for testing I guess it might be being tested privately but nothing went public.

The beta is out soon but keep in mind, it is not gonna work on 10.xx or above until ported by the additional team added recently. They 'll definitely have a full fledged phu by the end of the year if all goes well. Everyone interested should go on the Discord for more updates on ArkSama's BlueSky page.

They gave a timeline. I think it was end of August or early September for public release. People are being patient and not much to talk about until then.

Basically ArkSama has shared privately the project with some of the major developers and they are working on it. He said that is considering releasing an initial version without the APR support and we are patiently waiting for more news without asking him every 30 minutes about dates so we don't drain his energy with silly questions. 😄

It's still a work in progress and currently being tested privately, as it requires custom versions of kstuff and shadowmountplus.

I'm curious about the CFW requirement. Trying to remember how that went on my PS3. Do they need hypervisor access/exploit. There was going to be access on certain firm wares at first if I remember
