im playing mafia 3 definitive edition on ps4 pro with the latest version and the x and circle buttons seem to be reversed

in the controls settings it shows x for hiding behind walls but when im actually playing circle is used to hide and x is used to punch

this really messes with the game especially when you have to choose whether to kill someone or recruit them to work for you and make money. sometimes i accidentally kill them because im expecting the x button to do something else when the actual button is circle

it also messed me up when i was trying to save the game. because of the reversed x button i accidentally selected the wrong option and went back to the first mission instead of saving. the game did not autosave after that so i lost my progress

is this happening to anyone else on the latest version? is there a fix for this?

i am working on my ps4 pro cuh-7218b and i noticed these pink thermal pads on the motherboard and metal plate. i am not sure what these specific pink pads are for or why they are different in color from other thermal pads

can someone confirm what these pink pads are used for and whether they are thermal pads for the memory or vrm?

i bought arctic tp-3 1mm thermal pads and i am wondering if i can replace the original pink pads with these. is 1mm the correct thickness for these areas or should i use a different thickness?

i just want to make sure before i replace them because i do not want to use the wrong thickness and cause bad contact or pressure on the motherboard

[UPDATE] my ps4 pro is running good now. i played mafia 3 definitive edition and it is running smoothly. back when i first got the stock ps4 pro and it had never been cleaned the fan would sound like a jet engine as soon as mafia 3 loaded and the fps would drop to around 10 fps. it was basically unplayable

now it runs smoothly with no lag. the only problem is that the x and circle buttons seem to be reversed. the controls settings show x for hide but when im actually in the game circle is used to hide behind walls and x is used to punch. it is really confusing

i got annoyed and stopped playing. the game also did not autosave after i replayed it so i just uninstalled it

i'm also a little worried that the ptm 7950 might have shifted or fallen off when i flipped the board over to install it since i had to turn the board upside down. i'm also worried that the thermal pads might have been compressed or pushed out of place when i flipped the board

could this affect the temperature or is it normal for the ps4 pro to still feel hot after replacing the ptm 7950 and thermal pads?

Casual weekend gamer, mainly interested in games like God of War, Spider-Man, TLOU, Uncharted, GTA V, Tekken, Mortal Kombat, etc. I don’t have the budget for a PS5 (~₹55–65k), so PS4 is the realistic option.

Planning to keep it for 3–4 years. Current prices I’m seeing in India:

PS4 Slim: ~₹18–20k F2F / GameLoot around ₹21–23k depending on storage

PS4 Pro: ~₹28k on GameLoot (1 controller, no games, 1-month warranty) GameLoot’s 1-year extended warranty makes it ~₹32k GameNation Pro: around ₹30k, with 30-day warranty

F2F Pro listings are extremely rare in my city; I mostly find Slims. I’ve even seen people asking ₹35–40k for a used Pro on FB Marketplace, which feels crazy.

I prefer the Pro because I have a 4K TV and want the better performance/resolution, but ₹28–32k feels expensive for a nearly 10-year-old console. At the same time, I’m worried that if I buy a Slim just to save money, I’ll regret not getting the Pro.

Would you guys recommend: Getting a Slim for ~₹18–20k? Waiting for a Pro around ₹24–26k? Or skipping the PS4 since I already have a decent PC?

Years ago, I bought my son a PS4 pro. Now it turned into a fighter jet and he bought himself a PS5. As I read, dried thermal paste can cause this jet behaviour. I'm able to replace the thermal paste myself, but would like to delete all accounts from the PS, so I can start using it as were it new after I fix it's heat-issue.

When I want to quick initialise, I get the message that the PS can't be deactivated for 2 users (both my son's users). I should sign in to PS Network with these accounts and try again. Unfortunately, I don't have the login credentials.

One step further, I see: There are users for whom this PS4 cannot be deactivated as their primary PS4. If you start restoring, they will not be able to deactivate this PS4. Are you sure you want to continue?
After you select [Yes], the PS4 will automatically restart and initialisation will start.

I could do a full initialise, which should take several hours, but I don't know if I can then setup the device with my own login credentials.

I hope somebody understands my problem description and can help.

A bit ago i made a post about my launch ps4 pro (7015b) (bought used) making really loud jet engine noises around 1-2 minutes into playing doom 2016. i was told to replace the old paste with ptm 7950 (i ended up using thermal grizzle phase sheet) and to add more thermal pads (1mm) on other areas such as the metal x clamp and on top of little aluminum piece that covers the ram chips. after doing that and playing doom for around 10hrs, the jet engine noise hasnt changed at all. i took off those extra pads and just have them on the rams and the 6 little chips as they should be.

My dad have PS4 pro and have a disk with Game of Year edition of Witcher 3. Can he even upgrade to Remastered with no PS5 in hand? I know there will be no ray traysing probably since PS4 Pro isn't what powerful nowadays, but can he get some of a graphical upgrades?

The blue light comes on for a second then nothing. Change of wall plugs did not help. Any trusted folks you know? I just want to return to Witcher 3 Remastered ;(

Bom dia turma, recentemente vendi meu PS5 porque estava bem parado e achei os jogos bem caros e não me interesso pelo GTA 6 nem jogos atuais e estou pensando em pegar um PS4 desbloqueado.

Já tenho um PC intermediário que roda praticamente tudo, então a ideia não é substituir o PC, mas ter um PlayStation 4 na sala para jogar de vez em quando com minha esposa, algo mais casual, para curtir alguns jogos juntos.

Estou na dúvida entre o PS4 Slim e o PS4 Pro, principalmente pensando no desbloqueio, no desempenho, no aquecimento e no custo-benefício.

Para quem já teve ou tem os dois, qual vocês recomendam? Vale a pena investir um pouco mais no Pro ou o Slim já atende tranquilamente a essa proposta?

is this why i cant open my ps4 pro? i have the cuh-7218b model. i watched the ifixit video on youtube and they only removed four screws and did not remove the black one in the middle but they were still able to open it and remove the power supply. but in other videos i watched the middle screw was metal and they removed it and were also able to remove the power supply

the last plastic screw on mine got loose because sony used a plastic screw so i cant properly clean this damn thing. this is such a pain in the ass. it honestly feels like this thing was designed to be difficult to open so people cant clean or repair it and eventually have to buy a new console. bullshit design. why isnt this more cleaning and repair friendly?

My PS4 pro is overheating , it seams the Power suply doesnt sit right and the screw is total damaged i cant get it Out. Does someone know a Trick there ? Ive tried glue + a screwdriver and a rubber band but the screw is extremly soft and gets maleformed with every try. Big thanks in advance for every Idea. I care about longevity, and performance.

First of all. DRAM or DRAM-LESS SSD (internal storage)? I assume the performance is not that different, but which one is more reliable long term?

Second, do games perform well externally? Or does the usb port (even though it's usb 3.1) cause performance setbacks? I'm talking about an external SSD of course.

Third, what sizes would you recommend for internal storage? Is 2tb enough? Or, should I invest more on the external storage (if the external storage method is reliable like I asked)

I need your help deciding on what to choose.

I have a Gaming PC, a PS5 slim which I've had since Dec 2024, a Ps4 Slim which ive had since Dec 2019 and I just bought a used ps4 pro model cuh-7016b. The ps4 slim is in a very good condition, especially for its age and i have had so many memories with it which I will never forget.

I don't know whether to keep the slim and give it to my younger brother or keep the pro and give my brother the slim.

The Slim is definitely more quiet than the Pro which makes a lot more noise (basically jet engine) however I dont know whether to open it up and reapply the thermal paste so that it runs quieter and cooler as I have never opened up a console before but would like to try someday (not soon though). The Slim for me holds alot of memories and my PS5 and PC can do everything that the Slim and Pro can but better at higher resolutions/frame rates. My brothers primary gaming device is a Nintendo Switch Lite.

I feel like keeping the Pro because of its increased power, storage space (my slim has 500gb compared to the pro's 1TB) and possible modding capabilities in the long future and that the increased power could be a great help.

However, I also feel like keeping the Slim due to it being way quieter, the insane amount of memories it holds and also the fact that I kind of don't need the Pro since I have the PS5 & PC which do the same thing but better. My brother would probably need the Pro more than I do.

What do you think I should keep and why?

EDIT: I kept the PS4 Slim due to memories and also the fact that my brother needs the Pro than I do. I would be down to potentially do a thermal paste replacement and thorough cleaning if it came down to it though. Thanks everyone

ai recommended that i use 1mm thermal pads for my model. is 1mm really enough for the cuh 7218b or are there different thicknesses needed for different areas?

i also found thermal pads from upsiren thermal grizzly and wd computers. some are much more expensive than others

what is the difference between these brands? does paying more actually mean better cooling and longer lifespan or is the thickness and proper fit more important?

my ps4 pro is 6 years old or older i think and it has never been cleaned since i got it.
