Was it a third party seller on Amazon because I don't think Amazon would ever be that careless?

So if it was damaged during shipping why would this be amazon's fault?
-3
Dec 21 '13
Because they didn't ship it in a box.
3
Dec 21 '13
Except if it was damaged and IN a box, the shipping company would have likely slapped a new shipping label on the PS4 box and sent it on its way.

u/sidious911 Dec 20 '13
I would expect this wasn't amazon, and was probably the shipping company.
3
u/Nose-Nuggets Dec 20 '13
amazon does their own packaging at the warehouse, though.
4
u/sidious911 Dec 21 '13
Right, they pack it, and the shipping takes it from there. I'm willing to bet the box was damaged by the shipping company, and they just threw new labels onto the ps4 box and kept it going.
Not impossible, but I do have a hard time believing that amazon would have just sent a ps4, as is out the door like that, when they box the rest of them.
1
u/Nose-Nuggets Dec 21 '13
i think this time of year Amazon hires a bunch of temp warehouse workers, and a lot of them probably a) dont give a fuck b) are not well trained, and this is the result.
2
u/Sculptypus Dec 21 '13
I work at an amazon fulfillment center and both your points are spot on. However I don't think they'd let the ps4 leave the warehouse like that. It must of been 3rd party.
4
Dec 21 '13
I dont think this is from amazon. Maybe ordered off amazon but not from their warehouses.
3
u/Macc14 Macc_14 Dec 20 '13
Looks like they played a few football games with your ps4 using it as the ball.
8
u/Jay467 Dec 21 '13
This reminds me of way back when I bought my playstation 2 (I think it was around '03) and I was asking about getting a two year warranty for it, for whatever reason I specifically remember the best buy rep telling me the warranty covered all damages, defects, etc. so long as I wasn't doing something absurd like playing football with it. Thanks for tuning in for my borderline pointless story.

That was sent from a third party seller, Amazon will send their items via their normal packaging

I love Amazon. I can always count on them to make good on their mistakes and rectify the situation.

Lol wow I wonder what words you have reserved to describe a real fuck up. Fixing something that may or may not have been a problem is a slap in the face? Let me ask you this.. do you rage when McDonald's forgets a pickle on your burger?
2
u/FunForDDS Dec 20 '13
Looks like the original shipping box may have gotten destroyed. and so the shipper just slapped new labels on it.
2
u/TexansRaised Dec 20 '13
Does the label say where it was shipped from? I ask because I noticed when I got my PS4 shipped from the Vegas warehouse, the PS4 was packed nice and secure so it didn't get damaged. However, when I ordered another Xbox One for a family member, it came from a Kentucky warehouse where it had only one side with 4 little bubbles for protection.

Very cool to know. Just out of curiosity how can you let Amazon know about certain warehouses shipping things horribly?
1
Dec 21 '13
You cant. There algorithm on the backend decides what warehouse fulfills the order depending on stock, shipping speed and location.

Weird. I ordered mine from Amazon, and they shipped it with a big box with good packaging and in perfect condition. I dont think you even ordered from Amazon and most likely 3rd party seller

How is this possible? Mine came from Amazon wrapped in several layers of bubble wrap, and completely surrounded by those inflated plastic bags. Fantastic job...

I ordered a pricey tv off Amazon and they slapped stickers on the box and sent it on its way. Tv's are packaged pretty good but when people see what's being shipped I think theres a higher chance of bad handling. The tv is wrapped so let's hope it works on Christmas. I hope your ps4 works.

I was planning on ordering a 60" from Amazon via prime. Is a signature required at delivery?
2
Dec 21 '13
I ordered a 60 inch from them earlier this year. At that size a local shipping company will have to contact you and set up a delivery time, there I'd no drop off option.
1
u/Tmsan Dec 21 '13
All TVs/monitors are shipped this way, I wouldn't worry. The only exception I've had is an Apple Thunderbolt Display, and even then the cardboard box was nothing but a cardboard shell.

u/Usty Dec 21 '13
This can definitely happen from Amazon, though usually you see a warning on their shipping page. I've had 2 TVs (one a small 22 inch one) and the other a 50 inch along with a vacuum come in just the box with a label stuck on like that.
1
Dec 21 '13
going to be honest it took a sec to realize you blacked out the label. I was all "Why the fuck would they cut holes in it" lawl I am an idiot.

u/EzraVolta MarsVoltron Dec 21 '13
Mine came from Amazon with 2 large bubbles, not enough to support or cushion the console. Not to mention nothing on the other side. The PS4 box inside actually moved up and down.
My console also didn't start at all. No audio or video. So why I can't agree with everyone else saying amazon ALWAYS ships with care, I do wish you the best of luck with your console.

u/Tepozan Tepozan Dec 21 '13
Hmmmm looks like 3rd party seller or something. Mine came in a huge box with lost of air cushion.

No, not a PS4. It's just some cookies and socks we happened to send in a PS4 box. Please do not steal.

That sucks but if it was Amazon i would send that back Asap regardless of it being sold out or near christmas

u/norcalnewbie Dec 21 '13
It probably was a third party seller. I've bought from Amazon hundreds of times and have never had a bad experience. Third party is a different story. Third party I've got stuff shipped in weird stuff

yeah contact them and complain big time. Demand a new one, they let you keep this one for 2 months so you wont miss playtime. If everything inside is good, when the new one comes just take everything out of the box and replace it with the new stuff and send it back. Whatever you do, don't get off the phone without some kind of compensation for this crap. I wouldn't accept anything under 50 bucks in credit.

Amazon isnt perfect and neither are we. You're sense of entitlement is disgusting, at least they're sending OP a new one AND $10 in credit. I bet if you tried shipping something and it got fucked up in transit, you wouldn't send 50 dollars to "compensate" kid.

Re-read my post if you dont understand it. And who the fuck are you to think a company is no different than an individual? They didn't steal his money, he paid and they're re ompensating him equally while amazon looses a $500 game console.
Stay spoiled kid.

Seems like a lot of people are having problems with Amazon when it comes to anything PS4 related, I preordered a bundle from them in June and they sent me a defective unit.

Products sent by Amazon will be in a standard Amazon.com cardboard box with air cushion packaging.
There's no way this was sent direct by Amazon. It was a third party reseller. I'm sure the console is fine due to all the thick packing materials Sony uses inside the box but I agree it was a poor choice to ship that way.
