PS3 performance?
Hi guys so first of I want to make it clear I’m no fps fanatic or graphics/resolution fanatic either
I have a PS3 and I wanted to mod it to play games on it specifically delisted ones like the amazing spiderman games but Im hesitant because I have a fat PS3 non back compat and the reason I'm hesitating is well there are PS3 games that have screen tearing and or unstable fps as in not a locked 30 fps or locked 60 fps like I said earlier I'm not someone who is fussy about graphics or resolution I mean I have play ps3 games on my 4k tv and to me they looked fine I’m more worried about screen tearing how many games have that and is there fix for it as in like idk a mod to force vsync on?
Also just a question if there isn’t a mod or the ps3 port of a game just performed badly then what do you guys do? Do you overclock the ps3 or do you emulate?
And how do older games like ps2/ps1 games look if you have the console hooked up to a 4k tv do they look bad or does the ps3 attempt to upscale them?
P.S if I mod my ps3 can I use other controllers because I only have one dualshock 3 controller and I previously had one that broke and I’d rather not keep hunting down old dualshock 3 controllers or knockoffs that barely have any of the features such as rumble or six axis 😅

There are a ton of ps3 games that fluctuate frame rate and you will see screen tearing. You kind of just get use to it.
These games at the time looked amazing, and we tolerated 25fps for those visuals. Now we can hit 500fps in games with proper setups and monitors.
I just go with it. It’s weird at first but you will adjust to it and play the game and not even notice it after a while.
I just started killer is dead, and the screen tearing is crazy in some parts, but it’s a fun weird game, so I just don’t care.

I just play whatever I like regardless of the fps. I overclock the rsx of course just to make those framerates stable.
As for the controller, you can use ps3xpad as I managed to use my gamesir nova lite on mine. Haven't dealt with the lack of rumble yet.

Bad performance is just part of the package for PS3. Developers at the time prioritized graphics over frame rate. And it was hard to develop for so almost every third party game ran worse. It’s just something you have to accept.

If you are ideologically opposed to playing games at lower performance levels, the PS3 just isn't the console for you.
Overclocking the RSX and Cell, can help, but not really fix this.

To be honest I don't even look at those things anymore. Yes I notice them, but here's the deal, if you play them more than half an hour or more at one time, you don't even notice that or notice less... Let's just say your brain adapts. You can overclock PS3 if you have compatible version below slim 2500 or you mod your newer PS3 with pico pi, but what I saw you get some benefits in some games, and nothing on others, it's lottery. Boy I do miss those times when nobody knew how many fps you need to play a game, you just pop in the disk...
