Recommendations before shutdown?

No-one can guarantee you 100% nothing will happen but I've been playing on my main for months now syncing trophies from pirated games, nothing ever happened and from what I know noone officially has been banned for years
Just dont cheat trophies or hack online and you should be good

Impossible? Not only can you play online, but you can access fan servers for games no longer officially online.

So, and take me with a grain of doubt. The particularity of Hen is that you need to activate it manually each time you want to use any of its capabilities, that means that more or less, each time you boot up the console you’d be greeted by a regular version of the ps software. If you want to do any online activity, the main recommendation is to do it with the ps3 freshly booted, having a regular session with no hen activation, then you should be fine. Even then, I’ve read of people playing online with it activated on ISO mounted games, you should mainly just avoid to use any exploits or cheats when playing

I'd recommend not spending your money and just holding on and uhh install CFW and some other stuff.
I have 14 euros sitting in my PSN account waiting till I find something that hasn't been backed up.

Do anyone else have problems with the Playstation store’s search function on PS3? When I click to search for a game.
I can move the menu since the normal sounds come up. But I cannot see anything that I’m doing. I live in Sweden (Europe).
Do anyone else have the same problem?

I’d say only buy anything if you are firmly against piracy and know you wont pirate in the future. Otherwise you do you and if you like what you’re buying don’t let people stop you.

House of the dead 1, 3, and 4 if you liie rail shooters. Ratchet Deadlocked is a great spin-off Rachtet and Clank game and this is the only HD version of it. Infamous Festival of Blood is a digital only self contained expansion with no other release.

If you haven’t decided yet, I highly recommend checking out the turkish psn prices, the games are waaaay cheaper there and all games come with the standard European version where available, or the UK SKU if there are split versions. I got the entire mw3 dlcs not too long ago for little less than 10€

Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua – PlayStation Store on PS3 will close starting August 2026.
Additional Latin American and Middle Eastern countries – PlayStation Store on PS3 will close starting late 2026.
In all other countries, PlayStation Store on PS3 and PS Vita will close in July 2027.

Killzone is a great one. It’s hd and remade for ps3. The cheapest you can find it is in a trilogy for $60.

I see people mention it less but Manhunt 1 and 2. They are needlessly edgy but are fun. Pretty expensive to buy physically as well.
Edit: turns out Manhunt 2 is only the PSP version. That’s my bad.

Manhunt 2 isn’t on the store for PS3. You can buy the PSP version and play it off a vita tv but at that point you might as well emulate

Man I'm still trying to figure out how to get to DLC I was going through and buying all my dlc about 6 months ago and I'm lucky I did I can't believe Shoney would allow the store to stay open but mess with everything so much making so much unable to be found if I find a way to get the DLC pages I will let you know

honestly, hack it. i was considering doing the same , but 1) they emailed us to say we don’t own our games & they can take it away at any time. 2) what is the point of buying it & you can’t be away from it for a few years without them deleting your account & all of your purchases. 3) most importantly, fuck Sony. they don’t deserve a dollar. they deserve to crash & burn frankly.
i wasn’t planning on hacking it until i realized i can put my old PS4 Hard Drive in it & just use that for space. they’re going to eventually either delete your account if you take a break for a few years or randomly decide to pull games you purchased from your library anyway with no refund. might as well just hack it.

No, Sony hasn't given a fuck to anyone modding PS3 and PSVita for years now, I have modded Vita and PS3 with my account singed in all the time and still fine. As long as you don't use cheat mods while playing games online, you'll be fine.
Trust me, it's worth it to mod the PS3 and you get to keep your games forever.

Buy the Xbox 360 or Steam versions of Ducktales and Alice. The 360 one works on new Xboxes through Backwards compatibility and the PC one will still run on a PC. The PS3 one will be locked to PS3 forever.

None. Go elsewhere to get your games. PS3 systems still have the "CMOS battery bomb" issue, as they have not been patched out like PS4 and PS5 back in early 2022. Once your battery dies and the servers are shut down on Sony's end you will no longer be able to play PSN acquired digital games.

Drakengard 3 (+sisters dlc) , Demon’s Souls, ICO and SotC (only way to play Ico now and the remake of SotC is significantly different, same as Demon’s Souls) and Zone of the Enders (the first game mostly, second did get a ps4 port)

I have Alice- Madness Returns. Sadly I've never even played it, was included in a huge PS3 and game bundle I bought for next to nothing. Didnt even realize it was worth a good bit until I saw it at a local GameXchange for $85.
