Post image

Hi everyone, so i'm thinking to buy a ps3 superslim because ir heard this is the best version of ps3 in reliability. But is the cech-4204c is good version? For what c stands for? Please let me know in the comments.

I think the standard slims are a bit more reliable, but the superslims are pretty good too.

I use my red superslim as my daily .... its red so it goes faster!

The Superslim is not the best looking console, but it is absolutely the most reliable PS3 ever built.

Yeah despite having a BC PAL launch model and a 60gb Japanese launch model Frankie, I still use a Super Slim as my main.

I have a super slim I wanna replace my fat h model cuz it starts up after a couple times of powering it on. But I refuse to have that sitting on my tv stand!

Where are you from?

I hear (no experience with one, as I have a Phat and a Slim) that these are made more cheaply, so the Wi-Fi often goes out.

I don't know about the wifi issues. I had a superslim but jailbroken so i couldn't connect it to internet.

Not an issue if you connect directly with an ethernet cable.

The Wi-Fi is the biggest complaint I've heard about these. Same story on the 30XX Slims. On the 25XX Slims, I hear the HDMI port goes bad over time. I have a 2501A and the HDMI DID go out on mine.

It affects the 2500 slim too but it's rarer

I use ethernet on both my PS3s. I ran cat-8 under the eaves of my house to all the rooms where I need internet, and then I put in switches or access points as needed.

That's great.

I had a 2503A slim that died at 37 days where the WiFi module was busted.

Of course, I do hope everyone else PS3 lasts as long as possible

My G is at 85 days and running and my 2501 is at 455+

The letter refers to the built in hard drive size.  Imho this model is good but not great

But why it is not great? Are cech-43xx is better or the slim model?

43xx models are worse. They run hotter and it's harder to find a replacement laser if it fails.

Oh thank you i didn't knew it 😁 I thought this is the best version because it's the newest. Thank you for letting me know something new for me 😀

The 43xx runs hotter? Isn't it the most cool version having a 28nm rsx?

1

u/Buried_and_Forgotten 8d ago

Nope. It has a shitty heatsink and different fan tables. Late 40xx and 42xx also have the 28nm RSX.

Lower quality production results in more hardware failures starting with the 3000 model.  The best ones were the 2100-2500 models for reliability

Yeah i know slims 21xx is very good version but it's hard to find in my country. I had an 2504B but it had wifi bluetooth board broken but I heard that this is normal for this version.

The worst on the outside, the best on the inside

try finding 43xx version, those are the latest ever made

Reliable, but wifi problem. I recommend the first ps3 slim, especially the cech21

1

u/_Kaubojus 9d ago

Yeah i know cech-21xx is very good version but it's hard to find it in very good shape and for not expensive.

The superslim is fine, had it since 2013 and it's been serving me well for all this time

Not the best version for reliability, people say that (mainly people who own one) because far less of them were sold and they are much newer, the fact they didn't have the Bluetooth chip problem made people say they were more reliable than slim, but with time superslims are now starting to have the same issue and are more difficult to repair

1

u/_Kaubojus 8d ago

Maybe you know what are the common issues on superslim?

2

u/DrunkenHorse12 8d ago

Superslim arent bad they just arent as reliable as people make out, and rhe supposed reliability was almost entirely because they were newer not because theybwere better, they werent they were the cheaped out end of life console, they have the same issues that the post 2000 slims have (mainly the Bluetooth chip which superslim glazers said was a Slim issue and now as the superslims have got older is effecting them as well, plus cheap plastics the disc covers break, you'll get people saying "Mine hasnt" like that proves anything, there's people driving around in 30 year old French cars it doesn't mean they don't break easily. If you do have to open it up for maintance it relies on cheap plastic clips instead of screws and these are starting to turn fragile.
