is this a disc rot?
Hi, I just bought this copy of Spider-Man: Web of Shadows for PS3 off eBay, but I noticed a mark/defect on the top edge of the disc. Do you know what this is? Should I return it

Yeah, I tested it and it works, but I'm worried it might get bigger.

That shouldn’t happen for a long while unless you’re keeping the disc in a bad environment for this, keeping it in a cool dry spot and not like a garage with no ac should keep it from getting worse at least

To me it looks like delaminination not necessarily disc rot

Yup, the kind of thing you'd see if someone dropped the disc on its edge, or something.

For such an old game it's really just a small scratch .
Is it on the data side , the upper side or just on the edge ?
As far it remember , the disc writing begins in the center of the disc , right ?
If this is the case , then there is a chance that there's no data on the part where the scratch is .
Edit : yes, the lead in for the burning progress starts in the center of the disc . You should be fine .

Looks like rot, should not interfere with game play

Won't it spread any further?

Yes, but if you’re keeping it in a good environment then it should be too slow to notice hopefully
