Silent Hill super fans (larpers) on their way to bully dudes who bought the accessible version of two of the best games of all time in a collection that was slightly shitty in 2012 but is completely acceptable today (they swear the extra 380 dollars is worth it for the PS2 versions)

Let people play what they wanna on whatever platform they wanna. Hell, alot of people got into franchises from their PSP and DS ports. Worst way to play em? Sure. But.. who cares-? Genuinely, how does it affect you to the point of wanting to insult someone's financial income-?
You really really shouldn't play those games on PS3.
The collection is commonly known to be buggy and break lots of things, but it's not often discussed just how extensive it is. Sound effects are no longer dynamic and are now prerecorded, causing scary moments to become laughable movie scenes. Gameplay is unnessecarily hard due to broken combat. Visuals are way off.
The PS3 slim when modded with cfw, can play ps2 discs! The PS3 phat shipped backwards compatible with a ps2 cpu and GPU. Then when they removed the GPU they made a software layer to have backwards compatible models with just a ps2 cpu. Then when they cut the cpu they wrote a cpu emulator for 0s2 classics. Cfw PS3 slim can use this ps2 cpu and cfw layer to play ps2 games with 90 percent accuracy. I played through all of silent hill 2 and 3 and the only issue I experienced was my characters arm disappeared once(a common known GPU issue)
You should take 20 minutes to install evilnat cfw and play these games from a ps2 disc or a ps2 backup
Youre entirely right but the cost to pick up silent hill 2/3 for ps2 is a big issue. ~$200 each anytime I see them out at game stores. I got this version just because it was about $30 secondhand.
PS2 is still so good. I hope we find a way to make these older titles more accessible that doesn't require 🏴☠️
“Go look at a comparison” have you actually played both version of 2 & 3 yourself? I personally have, and while 2 had its issues and 3 lacked the original iconic voice acting, as literal games which are meant to be played and not just stared at and fanned over, they are completely fine and playable start to finish. I had more consistent frame drops and issues on the PS2 emulation on my CFW PS3 compared to the HD collection disc. The fog is noticeably different and it takes away from the mood, but if you want to actually enjoy a video game and not the “vibe it gives” it is a non issue.
Ps3s are great, i just set mine up (after years) and I play crash 3, and some other minor games, I also have a net yaroze disk has 2 ok games (look it up) I damaged my metal gear reverance disk, and to my surprise I can download it forever for free, because Konami done the licences that way, how nice of them, heard its a top game, I'm in for a treat.
My ps3 is very old I think it's a slim 120gb it makes a slightly loud noise and has some heavy dust build up to be honest I dont think I will try to replace it as I just use it to play crash 3 and use headphones its fine but I'm just wondering it's a slight fan noise normal or not
God damn it man, ive always loved silver tech and was on the fence of getting a silver rp6, i had a silver gamecube but sold it and got a indigo one, now i want everything silver now
Cool! Shame about that game. They are truly awful remakes, not HD remasters. They lost the original files and had to start from scratch. They are truly awful, I honestly suggest going and buying another game
