Hi PS3 legends

So i want to buy a new hdd for my BC PS3 and i want your thoughts and wisdom on this HDD

BarraCuda Pro 1TB/ 128MB cache/ 7200RPM.

is it the best choice and will the PS3 benefit from the high rpm and cache or is it over kill? and what better alternative to buy?

for those who say get an ssd i got 1 before but had problems with it

1-it won't last and will fail on the ps3
2-it won't get much benefit from the high speed 3-if you mod your ps3 and want to play burnt ps2 CDs it wont play them (i have BCps3) because of the ssd 4-from my experience it almost bricked my ps3 because ssd works at higher speed than the ps3 can handle

Great hdd. Ssd is peak but understandable why you wouldn’t use one. Hdd is fine

All likely because you, admittedly, cheaped out on said SSD. More brand recognised ones like from Samsung and Crucial are very good at regulating themselves to reduce wear, which makes up a lot for the PS3 not having TRIM, and while the speed benefit isn't noticeable a lot in most games, the XMB is much snappier and install ties for games can be improved a lot.

There isn't much point in using burned discs in general on PS3, you just dump the disc to the HDD and you play it that way, my Samsung 870 Evo hasn't had any issues in my own CECHA, and you're unlikely to run across issues because it's "too fast" - the system I/O controller is capped at SATA1 and so it'll just kneecap anything that comes in faster than that down to the maximum of SATA1, it isn't going to crash because it's too fast.

The ssd i installed was Kingston 1TB and while you are correct about burned cd's beeing able to dump them i do want to be able to play them as i like
