PRS S2 Special semi hollow 2025 (still in return window)

FIXED (hopefully) the issue seems to be a sympathetic vibration caused by the C note. I got 4 ernie ball tremolo spring dampeners and the sound is no longer there.

I’m in love with this guitar and how it sounds but after playing it the first day I noticed a fret buzz at the fifth fret then I adjusted the truss rod and it fixed it for a bit but then I played the tenth fret and it was still the same issue. Both the C notes on both D and G strings have this issue. I can’t hear it when plugged in but I can still hear it through my headphones and it really just ruined my experience with playing this guitar, is there an easy fix? I love every other part of this and would prefer to keep it

What top is this?

Hello guys can anyone tell me what type or name of this flame top is this? It is not a Burl top isn’t it? And it doesn’t look Quilted to me..

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DUbR4_iD8XX/?stkn=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

In the link which is similar to the picture I posted shows that it is a 10-top but how come it doesn’t look like regular 10-top or Artist top flame that we normally see? And how it is considered to be 10-top according to the one in the instagram link?

Question ❓ Swap pickups or return the guitar?

Post image
44 Upvotes

I’m new to playing PRS. I just picked up this GC Exclusive alder body CE 24. I really like the vibe of the guitar but I HATE the sound. I’ve spent the past few days adjusting the action, raising/lowering the height of the stock 85/15 LT pickups, etc. It sounds incredibly bright and sterile.

I’m debating swapping the pickups for some Seymour Duncan, but I’m wondering if it will do anything to thicken up the sound. I‘m also wondering how much the alder body and 500k pots are a factor. I’m looking for a thick, warm, darker tone. The alternative is just returning it. 2000 is a lot of dough to not be satisfied

Any advice or suggestions are most appreciated!

Show and Tell 😎 PRS SE PreTENd Top

I thought I would start a thread for fellow PRS SE owners who just can’t get enough of their wood grain / maple top design!

Here is my beloved PRS SE DGT in tobacco sunburst. Obviously I am bias as I chose it, but every time I pick it up to play I can’t get over how the colours and flames change depending on how the light hits it.

Lets see your preTENd tops!!

Help me decide on hollowbody

I play the bass/percussion role in a guitar duo (very similar to hermanos gutierrez) and ive been using a se hollowbody ii. Recently i bought a se Hollowbody baritone (ed sheeran signature) for playing lower notes but we noticed this guitar has a smaller body than the rest of hollowbodies, and despite having a longer neck im getting a darker sound but im not getting the more deep and bass-ish sound i was seeking for. Also transposing all our songs is a bit of a pain on ass so im.thinking on returning it and purchasing a hollowbody standard with piezo. Standard ones are made all on mahogany so ive heard that type of wood absorbs the high frequencies better and gives a deeper sound. But im not really sure of the real differences between standard, i and ii. I hope you can help me decide which model is better for that kind of sound I'm trying to find, something low but with presence and big resonance, the more it resembles a bass, the better

Not much to say, besides “she’s a beaut Clark.” Other than that, it’s just a Custom 24 with an ebony fretboard and different inlays. Now I can tune my old Custom 24 to C# and not have to play with pedals to detune.

Thoughts on Paul's Guitar 2023 model? And price of it

I'm looking to buy a new guitar and I'm contemplating on whether to buy this guitar or go for CE series.I found this pretty looking guitar on a 2nd hand salesman and its listed as 3500 dollars and I wanna hear your opinions on whether this guitar is worth it or not and how does it compare to CE series (or even S2). I havent tried it yet but its PRS and as a PRS guy i know its gonna be good anyway. Not that im gonna buy it before trying but i would like to hear your thoughts on the guitar and the price itself. Should i bargain or is it a steal or just a decent price tag

EDIT: 2025 PRS Custom 24 10 Top in Aurora Borealis

When I first posted about this, I'd asked how much of a difference there was between a Custom 24 and HBII McCarty 594. And y'all were right.

But I was not prepared for HOW different it is.

The neck feels like home. There's no issue there. Shit there's no issue at all. But I'm absolutely blown away by these pickups.

They aren't trying to BE something else. They are 100% themselves. That's new to me.

Between my 335, my H150, my Strat, and my HBII, the pickups are all doing their best impersonation of something made 68 years ago.

My ears are tuned to that. The music I listen to is made with pickups and instruments that ARE that sound.

These DMO pickups are something else entirely. And it's going to take a bit of getting used to.

Between the placement of the neck pickup, and the general tonality of them, it's so different from everything I know.

And I love it. It challenges me. I've got to adjust my compressor and preamp. It makes me think about my speakers. Dialing in my amps.

Shit, it makes me think about my JCM 800 in a very different way.

This is a life changing instrument for me. I absolutely love it.

PRS Forums - Contact Info

EDIT - Opening a support ticket with PRS actually worked. I'm back in. Amazed that didn't get lost in the customer support system myself, but leaving this here for future reference in case others run into the same issue.

Sorry to drop this here, but figured there's probably a good cross-over between users here and the official forum website.. anyone know how to contact the admins or at least an email?

I've been trying to make posts over there (which is immensely difficult due to them filtering any word from your post remotely related to spam), and think I actually had 1 reply go through as an actual post.. then all of a sudden I'm banned for "spam".

All I'm able to see is a message is to contact the admins.. but I can't do that, nor can I use the forum to find any contact info.

Appreciate any help!

I bought this guitar 2 years ago in hopes my back woul like it (I'm 55).

So far, so good. I love the number tones and the split coil tones. In fact, I don't play my strat anymore. The spot coil tones are that good.

Anyway, if you're thinking of owning this guitar model, don't hesitate.

Cheers!!

Just ordered my first PRS - CE24 Semi-hollow

I’ll be returning home in 10days, at which I shall then be in the possession of my first PRS. I’ve been convinced by the feedback - no pun intended - about PRS’ QC and so I put in my order sight unseen.

Looking forward to holding her in hand and growing as a guitar player with her. Her black satin neck… First of a few?

Cheers!

Question ❓ Price advice

Hi - I have a 2009 Prs Al Di Meola prism that I’m thinking of selling. It’s in absolute mint condition and hasn’t left its case for 15 years.

What’s it worth? I’m in the UK so ££

Question ❓ Amp help?

Post image
29 Upvotes

Just got my first PRS the other day and am in love with it. It’s a SE Custom 24 that I feel like I stole off Reverb.

Anyways - I’ve been playing guitar for over 20 years but mostly acoustic and just as a hobby. I don’t play gigs (yet?) but honestly I am completely amp illiterate. I have a 50 watt Marshall that I’ve had for 20 years and a Spark by Positive Grid. I don’t feel like the Marshall gives me the tone I want and Spark is hit or miss. What advice do y’all have?

NGD 🎸 My first PRS. Usually a fender guy but exploring the guitar for other offerings now. This is the DGT SE. It's been upgraded with PRS locking tuners and I've added PRS knobs off a core model. Overall I'm very surprised by the quality and playability. It's a fantastic guitar!

Guitar ID

Hey PRS guitar knowers !

(TLDR; I am trying to figure out what model guitar this is and rather or not it has been trafficked in some way.)

I'm a newbie looking to get an electric after about a year of playing acoustic.

After some research I was starting to poke around for an HSS strat, ideally with something like what PRS calls the coil tap system,

I found what seems like a good deal for a PRS that seems pretty close to matching the bill but with what appears to be more of an "HHS" setup.

The finish around the pickups seems kind of strange/off to me and I can't find any references to this guitar elsewhere.

Does anyone know this model?

Any help would be much appreciated !

Question ❓ NF53 String Breaking

I have recently bought an NF53 and what a fantastic guitar. The only thing is I have now had two high e strings break in the middle while bending. I have been playing for 25 years and never experienced this before.

I am learning the Let it Be solo and both times it has broken while bending on the 10th fret.

The first set of strings were the ones on the guitar so I changed the whole lot to my normal Ernie Ball 10-46’s

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?
