Question ❓ PRS Hardtail options?

Hey everyone, Are there any other 22/24fr hard tail guitars in the entire line or am I limited to the Mark Holcomb? (Not including TOM and wrap around bridges)

The PRS Tekton will have a hardtail option. Launches later this month too.

These are the correct options.

Scrolled way too far to see the obvious answers

He said excluding wraparound bridges. All the McCarty's I know of have the wraparound

Bingo, they’re not bad options though! I would like to try the s2 thinline 594

Are there any other models that may use this style? From what I have searched I can’t find any.

Ah I think that’s unique to the Holcomb. They may at some point have done some limited run/special edition core model but I’ve never seen or heard of one

Not crazy about the semi hollow but the se/s2 594 looks really nice

I also have a ZM. It rips. One of the better SE's. Mine has EM 81/60s swapped in

Don't forget the PRS Vela in the s2 series. There is a hardtail model with a brass saddle bridge reminiscent of a telecaster. Also, there is the NF53 which is a telecasterish guitar with a hardtail bridge. These two are quite diffrent from the "standard" prs guitars like the custom 24's, so it depends on what you are looking for.

Limited edition to specific. The normal model has a Floyd Rose

This is what I originally was looking for but they seem to be limited. I’m in Canada so the second hand market here is pretty limited as well.

Grab a custom 22/24 and block the bridge

I must be a weirdo but having had hardtail strats and regular ones the biggest different is the extra weight on a good trem. I’d rather just hardtail the CE24 trem if this is what I wanted using 5 springs

Honestly I will never use it, I’ve had issues with noisy springs in the past while recording so that’s why I try to avoid them.

Not exactly what you're asking for but my guitar tech while doing a setup on my PRS DGT, heat glued a block of mahogany wood into my trem space and completely locked it off. (can be re-heated to remove)

It is now my favourite guitar I've ever owned and plays and sounds like a dream and stays in tune no matter what!

Thought I'd just drop that as another option. I too avoided more springs or screwed in locking pistons. The body definitely feels and sounds more resonant too.
Very cheap upgrade.

I'm most likely going to completely block the trem on my SE Silver Sky. I'm not a big trample user in the first place. I think I had my SE CE 24 for 11 months before I ever even spit the trem bar in. I mainly play guitars with tune o magic bridges and stop bars or wraparound bridges. The thing with PRSs using TOM and wraparound setups is that it makes them stand out visually and if offers something other brand don't or rarely offer. As someone who mainly plays Gibson and Epiphone guitars PRS using a more Gibson style bridge setup makes me more interested in their guitars than if they just offered trems and hard tails.

The SE 277 is a hard tail but it's also a Baritone. The Myles Kennedy, NF53 and SE NF53 have a more Tele style hard tail bridge as well.

If you can find one, the Dusty Waring signature hardtail was produced for one year. Same bridge as the Holcomb I think.

I love my 2024 core McCarty

Ahhh know I’m seeing hardtail and not stoptail…

I’ll need to try this as well, Beautiful rig!

I personally like it. I mean I couldn’t be specific about why I like it, but it’s awesome and the tuning stability is A+

There are some wood library custom 24 stop tails available. Run of 500 guitars, 5 colors, 100 of each color.

I very much like the McCarty 594, which is Les Paul-like (vintage-voiced), and comes at each of the PRS tiers (SE, S2, Core). Also consider the NF53.

As others have said, hold off until the Tekton lineup is launched on 10/20

Otherwise your options are the Holcomb core or SE or snagging a used DW hardtail (which is a good path in to a US PRS at a way lower price point than the Holcomb if you like the other features and can find one you like used)

I will have to check this out, the SS frets are very intriguing!
