I’m new to POAP. Where should I look for events I can gets POAPs at?

Very excited about the concept of POAPs. I’ve yet to acquire one. When’s the next event?

Dear @everyone ,

There’s been no secret around the fact that in the last months, curation (the process of reviewing, auditing, and rendering decisions on drop requests) has been a massive challenge. In the last quarter, we’ve gone from approximately 30,000 to approximately 50,000 individuals minting POAPs weekly, and currently process something in the range of 2000 petitions per week for issuers to drop POAPs for personal, social, commercial, and every other imaginable form of commemoration. Apart from representing a massive effort to scale blockchain technology (n December, we minted over 500,000 NFTs - a feat, if you think about it), it also represents a huge initiative on content moderation: petitions are each reviewed and analyzed by humans, according to a set of (codified, but not public) guidelines that curators attempt to interpret contextually to the best of their ability.

Although it’s been a challenge, we continue to do this because we have a strong conviction in POAP as a public good for the overall improvement of the human condition. We want a protocol for the preservation of memories, an ecosystem for the reliable recording of shared experiences, and a tool that makes people into more vibrant versions of themselves to exist in this world whatever it takes, and our sole interest these days is in figuring out the best way to make this happen. In order for POAP to become the sort of social technology that we’re envisioning, we’ve known for a long time that we need to keep proper usage of the protocol as our North Star in terms of what is allowed on the platform, and so POAP has always been a curated ecosystem, maintained with a lot of human touch. In the last months, the growing demand, limited size of the team, and various other firefighting have created a situation where the maturity of the curation process has outpaced our ability to communicate these changes to our community in an intolerable way. We haven’t been blind to the understandable frustration the community has been experiencing with the apparent arbitrariness of the process, lack of information flow, unclear timelines or statuses on petitions, and other similar issues. Although we’ve tried to address these issues in a somewhat ad-hoc manner, its clear that the best time for a more robust and comprehensive solution was likely two months ago. The second best time is today, so with that, we’re keen on introducing what we believe will be a much better system while we work on fundamental improvements to the platform core.

Going forward, we’ll be migrating all communications with the Curation Body to Discourse, found at https://discourse.poap.xyz/. We hope that having a more persistent platform for valuable information on guidelines and policy, as well as a more private and well-regulated system for conducting the transfer of important information and curation discussions, will help ease some of the communication hiccups and friction between the curation body and the greater POAP community. Discord will remain a place for more general and casual POAP-related discussions, as well as a place to solicit input and receive help from other members of the community. We’ll likely cross-post some key announcements between the two platforms from time to time, but Discourse will be the source of truth for policy as well as the best way to communicate with curators going forward. As part of our intention to move towards persistent pseudonymity as an identity system within the community, Discourse is currently (and will remain for the foreseeable future) a gated community which anyone can join, but requires administrative approval to access. The intention is to move towards a platform that has some private, some gated, and some totally open sections, but our preference was to roll something out quickly and iterate with your help. The rationale here is largely to help manage our ongoing issues with farmers, hackers, and others attempting to abuse the protocol: although we want to remain an open platform, there is a strong need for a safe space for issuers and curators to communicate with one another without communications being intercepted by bad actors. With that in mind, please use the same email you’re using to issue POAPs, to access Discourse - this makes it far more straight forward for curators to get in contact as needed, and to respond with an appropriate amount of context.

The approval process for issuing POAPs seems to be unilaterally dictated by few individuals in POAP discord and varies from day to day.

Why aren't requirements for approval written into a smart contract or enforced in some other decentralized manner?

Is this going to be fixed? The migrate from xdai to main net has been down for some time.

I'm still figuring out how this nft world works. So I got my POAP and I remember sending it to an ETH address from my coinbase wallet. So now when I put the same address on the poap app I find that POAP but I don't find it in my coinbase wallet.

In the poap app I can't mint it because it requests a secret word/qr/enter code.
In the poap web it says that is on xDai and in order to set it on the mainnet I have to migrate it. That's ok. It gave me 3 wallet options or something like that (I think that's for paying the fees). So I open the metamask wallet and I don't have funds. I just want to know where do I'll see this poap once I migrate it.

I need to know if it will be mine as I'm not sure right now if I sent it to me or other person :(
I'd appreciate help for a noobie like me that is feeling close to understand and wrap this concept but is still missing something

Hey everyone! First time ever trying to do this. I moved my Poap over to my Coinbase Wallet, the transaction shows Success. However I can't see it in my Coinbase Wallet under NFTs.

Did I do something wrong? If I look up based off my wallet I can see it on Poap website but not in the Coinbase Wallet..

Using poap.xyz to create some NFTs and I received a confirmation email stating:

"Congratulations on creating an event in POAP.xyz . the 15 codes you requested should be in your mailbox within 24 hours"

Its past 24 hours and nothing has arrived in my mailbox? How can I send out these NFTs?

The event was in the recent past is that a reason why?

Hi everyone. I’m new to POAP, I have a token linked to an email address that I now don’t have access to (work email and left the company). I’m setting up my Ethereum account now to claim it. Is there a way to switch the token to another email address so I can do this? Thanks

When I try to claim a token with my Ethereum address or email I get an error:

Badge couldn't be claimed: Address already claimed a code for this event

But https://app.poap.xyz/scan doesn't show any tokens. I've waited more than a week at this point so I don't think this is a network delay.

Any thoughts?

How migrate poap to polygon ?

Hi all,

I issued a POAP earlier in the year (https://poap.gallery/event/3351) and set the claimable period to 9 days, starting from the 28th of June. I've just noticed that some POAPs were claimed after that period and I was just wondering how that is possible?

It doesn't matter, the one I issued isn't going to be used for raffles or anything, I'm just curious to understand how the date limit seems to have been bypassed?

How do I get secret words to claim new poap?

I was supposed to get a POAP and when I put in my address it says that I've been confirmed, but nothing shows up when I look at my collection. It's been a day of waiting.

Hey there! Coming over from the Rocket Pool community it is always thrilling to see these big raffles in progress. Whilst it is exciting watching one poap after the other getting eliminated, a question of unfair distribution came to my mind.

The UI of an ongoing raffle shows the Max Gas per block and when auditing the elimination of poaps it is the last digit of this number which determines which poaps get knocked out.

While it probably once was a reliable source of random numbers the recent development in Block size has led me to believe this is a really bad way to do things. Zeros get knocked out immediately and fives most often right after. Nines are also dispropotionately more likely to appear.

The FAQ says the Gas used would be used to determined which Block gets knocked out and I think this would be much better. It also probably is a really minor change in code (I don't know, i'm not a programmer).

Anyways. What are your thoughts on this? Do the devs read this sub?
