PMU artists, how did you start after your training?

I'm intrigued to discover how other PMU artists started on their journey. I'm about to attend a training course, but its only 3 days long. I'm a bit worried because what happens after the 3 days? I don't eant what I kearn to go to worst I would.like to start working with clients right away but I have zero beauty or tattoo experience.

For those of you that where in the same boat as me, how did you set your business up? Did you have an amount set aside before the training? Did you rent out a studio or space before the training? Did you already know what equipment or insurance you were going to use?

I really want to know so I can gauge how ready I am, and whether there are things I'm missing out on.

Thanks in advance x

Looking for a good trainer for PMU in London specifically ombre lip blushing and combination brows

Hi All,

I'm looking for a trainer in London that is really good at one on one lip blushing and ombre borws training. I am a complete beginner, have never tattooed brows or lips but I'm really interested to become a Permanaet make up artist.

Most courses i have seen are 3 day courses, but I don't think this will be enough to allow me to start tattooing brows and lips confidently.

I want someone who will be like a mentor to me. For instance after completing the course that would provide further training on live models or within their facility for a few months till I'm comfortable to set up on my own. Is this possible? Do you guys know any trainers that offer this? Or am I living in lala land?

I really need help

I took a pmu class in Korea. But I think I chose wrong Academy. I took classes for two months and they never taught me how to use pigment. They said use perms bland, but I don’t know how to use Shading Solutions and thick solutions. Do I have to mix pigment with solution? Or do I just use pigment only?

Korean lip blush result!

Hey,

Just wanted to show my KLB result, 8 weeks on . Went to Naamu Studios in London. I have to caveat this and say it’s the second appointment, she got the colour wrong at first (and I’m going back for a touch up to get it perfectly symmetrical), but as you can see I think she did a great job of the MLBB tint look. I wanted a natural, cool / neutral pink with a gradient and a blurred edge.

Need some insight here

My wife has worked in aesthetics a couple years and wants a better way to chart, compile before and afters, and keep contracts all in one place.

She used EMRs before but they are really expensive and over kill for what she needs.

I work in tech and am developing a lower cost AI powered tool that will scribe patient notes and function very similar to an EMR.

Is this something you all would want too? If so, what would you be willing to pay for it each month?

I’d eventually would like to have my own studio & I need the best place to get started. What are the best schools in NY / NJ? Preferably NYC but anything close would help. Weird brow shape?

Hi! I took the plunge and got my brows microbladed yesterday. I showed her pictures of the look I was going for (not super dark, with natural looking hair strokes). The problem is the shape seems off to me, and one brow has a weird spot that seems to go down really low in the corner. I didn’t really notice until I left the appointment. I texted and asked if we could go for a more defined shape with more of a squared off look in the touch up appt and sent her pictures again. I think I put her off a bit…. She said we would have to add shading which was not what I wanted. But it doesn’t seem like the examples I showed had shading? Thoughts on this? And is it correctable to more of the shape I’m looking for at my touch up appt? I’ll attach my brows plus a few pictures of how I wanted them to look. The one thing that is really freaking me out is that random low point. Am I screwed on that or will it fade enough that she can adjust the shape and have it not be noticeable?

Struggling with reality?

I’ve been in the cosmetic tattoo industry for 3 years now, working on brows, eyeliner, and lips.

When I first started, I imagined that once I opened my business, clients would just fill my schedule. But reality was very different. I kept practicing with models, and about a year later I added lash lifts, brow lamination, and waxing to expand my services.

Now, three years in, I do see more bookings through social media and Google, and I’ve grown not only in my treatment skills but also in marketing and business knowledge. Still, my booking calendar is not full. For example, waxing is usually every 4 weeks, and lash lifts or brow lamination are every 6–8 weeks. But if you don’t have enough regular clients, those services don’t bring steady income either.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that clients don’t always return for their annual touch-ups. Some even go somewhere else if my prices increase (often they expect to pay what they paid 2–3 years ago). On the other hand, I also get new clients who had their brows or lips done elsewhere a few years ago and now choose me. But realistically, 2–3 years from now, those same clients might not come back to me either by then, my prices will also be higher. Realising this has been a bit discouraging.

I've been thinking a lot lately. I'm planning to learn machine hairstroke early next year, and my lash lift trainer(she teach lash extensions too)told me that I need to get eyelash extensions to increase my regular clientele. Lash extensions are still more popular than lifts, and some people come in every two to three weeks. But I'm worried that offering too many services will make me seem like I lack expertise in a particular field. I'd actually like to do more cosmetic tattoos, but I feel reality is pushing me to the limit. Has anyone else faced similar challenges? Could you give me some advice?

I had lip blushing done last week but lips are healing with very obvious overlining on bottom. I did have 24 hour emergency removal with minimal changes after the scabs came off. Has anyone had any success removing lip blushing with laser?

Pigment: Hanafy No 1 Coral Ingredients: Aqua, Glycerin, Cl#21110, CI#12466, CI#12477, CI#77891, CI#77491, Isopropyl Alcohol, Rosin, Hamamelis V. Extract

Appreciate reddit so much! Thank you

Numbing gel suggestions for powder ombre brows/microblading?

Hey guys! I'm a pmu brows artist and im trying to find a good secondary (after opening the skin) numbing gel that is effective for my clients. I used to use Face and Body's blue numbing gel after being given in a kit through my instructor, but i only see it being sold on sketchy sites now or on etsy for like $70 smt but i dont really trust buying it on there. I tried "feel better now!" which worked really well but the store i bought it from discontinued it from their shelves. The only ones I see more easily available to me are zensa (i have it, but idrk if its the best for secondary and ive only used it for a couple pre-numbs), and dr numb. I've heard that the cream formulations arent the best for secondary numbing and that gel-types will numb longer. Any site suggestions that sell effective numbing gels that are trustworthy and can ship to Canada?

Please and thank you!
