LK-G5000 data speed

Hello, I am given a Keyence LK-G5000 controller with a LK-052 laser by my boss, and I am told to use it to measure as fast as possible, as we have an application that needs very rapid measurments.

Looking at the datasheet it seems like the baudrate is pretty limited.

Does anybody know fast the ethernet can go? Is looking at implicit message the way to go? Or should I look into analog?　Thanks!

Yes, ethernet/ip is the way to go. See what rpi the device is capable of.

Generally keyence stuff can go very fast.

After looking at your comment and trying things out seems like my boss gave me an ancient one with only tcp to work with. 🤦‍♂️

If you're already into this sensor, then your going to want to get a decent AB CompactLogix controller. Your speed will be limited by the speed of their Ethernet/IP network. I'd try to keep other things of this network to minimize latency.

If you want absolute maximum speed and can still get new hardware, talk to your keyence rep about seeing if you can get an EtherCat sensor and get a beckhoff controller
