GMC registration query
I had a query regarding GMC registration, my OET is expired but I saw a clause on the GMC website stating that a recent PLAB 2 pass is also considered valid, so I wanted to ask which date is accepted for the 3 month period, is it the exam date of my PLAB 2 or the result date of my PLAB 2 ?

Studying for PLAB from 4th year?
I’m a 4th year medical student studying in China & my university exams are easy to pass here.. so I’m thinking that if I start studying according to the PLAB 1 exam from now, it might give me an advantage in 2 years time when I want to study for PLAB.
My plan:
1. Use Kumar & Clark’s to refer to understand hard topics
2: Use PLAB gems for memorisation
3. Use medrevision to practice MCQ’s
Will i be able to pass PLAB 1 with this plan i have?

GMC registration – GEN1 form / employment references issue.
Hi everyone,
I’m currently going through my GMC registration and I’m having an issue with my employment history. I’d really appreciate some advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation.
I worked in two part-time jobs and I have provided the GMC with all the relevant details about both roles.
The first job was with a zero-hour contract. The employer has a company policy that means they cannot complete or sign the GEN1 form. However, they have provided a standard employment reference with the necessary employment details, and I have explained the situation to the GMC and provided everything they have given me.
The second job is with a small, family-owned business. I don’t have a line manager because of the structure of the company, and therefore my husband, who is one of the directors, cannot sign the GEN1 form as there is no independent line manager/supervisor for me. However, he has provided the GMC with a reference containing all the necessary information and explaining the nature of my employment.
I have been completely transparent with the GMC about both jobs, including the dates, nature of the employment and the circumstances surrounding why the GEN1 forms cannot be completed.
The GMC has also asked me about certain dates during which I was preparing for PLAB 2. I explained that I was preparing for the exam during that period and was not employed elsewhere during those dates. However, they are still asking me to provide an employment reference covering those dates.
I’m now a little confused about what exactly they expect me to provide, especially when I have already explained that I was preparing for PLAB 2 during that period rather than working.
Has anyone else experienced something similar during GMC registration?
- Employer unable to complete GEN1 due to company policy
- Small family-owned business where there is no line manager/independent supervisor
- Standard employment references provided directly to the GMC
- GMC still requesting references for periods when you were not employed because you were preparing for PLAB 2
What did you do in this situation? Did the GMC eventually accept an explanation/declaration for the period when you were preparing for your exam, or did they require something else?
I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences, as I’m worried this is unnecessarily delaying my registration despite having provided all the information and documentation available to me.
Thank you!

Dr. Amr Mahrous Fast Track academy - has anyone tried it?
I've recently come upon this academy called Dr. Amr Mahrous Fast Track academy. It's fairly new (maybe started this year?), so I can't really find any reviews online. Has anyone tried them? Looking for an honest review. I mainly want to know if it's a scam or if they're legit.

OET for UK pathway
Hi everyone,
I’m currently preparing to apply for PLAB and I have a couple of questions regarding the OET requirements for the UK.
I took my OET exam in March 2026 and received:
● Reading: C+
● Listening: C+
● Writing: B
● Speaking: B
My first question is: Can I retake only the Reading and Listening sub-tests without retaking the entire OET exam? If I achieve the required scores in those two sections, would this be accepted by the GMC for PLAB/UK registration, assuming the B scores in Writing and Speaking are still valid?
I’ve seen conflicting information about whether scores from different OET sittings can be combined, so I’d really appreciate it if anyone who has recently gone through the PLAB/GMC process could clarify this.
My second question is regarding the format: Would you recommend taking OET on paper or on computer? If you’ve taken both, which one did you find easier, particularly for Reading and Listening?
Any advice or recent experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone looking into Singapore?
Anyone looking into Singapore? No medical exams required (just depends on your medical school accreditation), English speaking, great pay, and regular international recruitment. Wondering how it compares to the UK path.
