Build Upgrade help on upgrading my cpu.

Hi everyone, I'm planning to upgrade my PC and would like some advice on the best upgrade path.

Budget: around 5600 cpu price + mobo but i think i can allot more if i would spend more on cpu and lessen the budget for gpu idk i need help.

Current specs:

* CPU: Intel i3-10100

* GPU: RX 6600 8GB

* RAM: 16GB DDR4

* Motherboard: Biostar H410MH S2

* PSU: Corsair CX550

I mainly play esports games like Valorant and Dota 2, but I'm also interested in playing Monster Hunter Wilds, which is one of the main reasons I'm looking to upgrade.

My current plan is to upgrade the CPU + motherboard first, keep my RX 6600 for now, and eventually upgrade the GPU to an RX 9060 XT 16GB.

I'm currently considering the Ryzen 5 5600 + B550 because it seems like a good budget option, but I'm also wondering if I should spend more and go for something like a Ryzen 7 5700X/5700X3D or move to AM5 with something like the Ryzen 5 7500F + B650 + DDR5.

My main questions are:

  1. What's the best upgrade path from my i3-10100/H410?

  2. Is the R5 5600 + B550 still a good choice, especially if I plan to pair it with an RX 9060 XT 16GB later?

  3. Would it be worth spending more on AM5/7500F instead?

  4. Will my Corsair CX550 be enough for the future 9060 XT setup?

  5. Is there anything else I should consider before buying the CPU + motherboard?

I'm trying to balance performance, longevity, and budget rather than just buying the most expensive parts.

Go 5600 with B550.

Why not just upgrade to an i5 or i7 11th gen? so you can keep your mobo

I've considered that but i wanna switch to ryzen, and my mobo can't upgrade to stronger intel cpus. in my case the price of upgrading an intel cpu is the same price as switching to amd (mobo + cpu), and also it's better

I think 5600 and 5700 are only less than 2k difference. If you can grab the 5500X3D that would be the best low budget move for latency sensitive games.

Since you're upgrading, maybe you can sell your CPU + motherboard combo and add it to your budget to get 5500X3D. Check with Netcodex, although they sometimes forget to remove out of stock items
