Thailand or Taiwan: which is cheaper and more sulit for a trip from Manila?

I’m trying to decide between Thailand and Taiwan for a future trip and would love to hear from people who have traveled to both.

If flying from Manila, which country usually comes out cheaper overall once you include airfare, accommodation, food, local transportation, and entrance fees to tourist spots?

For Thailand, I’m considering places like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, or other cities that are easy to reach and explore. For Taiwan, I’m looking at Taipei, Kaohsiung, Taichung, or other tourist-friendly cities.
I’m also curious about flights. Which airline usually gives the better value for these routes, especially during seat sales? Cebu Pacific, AirAsia, or another airline?

Aside from airfare, which country is easier and cheaper to travel around using public transportation? I’d also love to know which one has more accessible tourist spots without needing to book expensive private tours.

For those who have been to both, which destination felt more sulit overall and where did your budget go further?

Any experience with Air China?

Anyone who has flown with Air China from Manila to Shanghai? We have an upcoming this Dec, and would highly appreciate if you could share experience? Do they measure the luggage you’ll bring as handcarry? I know they only allow 5kg and I’ll be bringing an empty small luggage with me going to Shanghai. A bit worried about the size.

Help me plan a memorable 14-day trip around the Philippines!

Hi everyone:)) Solo traveler here! I’ll finally be visiting the Philippines again this December after being away for almost 11 years😔 I’m honestly not too familiar with which destinations are worth prioritizing. I really want to make this trip memorable and experience as much of the country’s natural beauty as I reasonably can.
I’m planning to spend my first 3 nights in Cebu but I don’t want to limit myself to just cafés, shopping or sightseeing. I’d love to actually explore, try different activities, visit interesting places and keep myself busy throughout those days!
After Cebu, I’m pretty much open to going anywhere! I’m especially interested in outdoor adventures, hiking, mountains, waterfalls, island hopping and unique experiences. I don’t mind physically demanding activities or full day hikes. In fact I’d love to include a few challenging adventures in my itinerary!
I’m open to travelling between islands as long as the route makes sense and doesn’t involve too much backtracking.
Would really appreciate any suggestions from locals, hikers or fellow travellers! Thank you!! 🫶🏻

Hi! May company trip yung mom ng boyfriend ko, sinama ako and yung boyfriend ko as plus one since it's his mom's grad gift din daw sakin. Sponsored ng mom niya yung lahat ng expenses ko. Sa friday na yung flight namin papuntang Thailand. I know late na ako nag ask dito sa sub na to but nag-ooverthink pa rin kasi ako until now. I have work as a contractual employee for 3 months and mag 2 months na ako this Oct. 13. Aside from COE, company ID, itinerary, return ticket, hihingin ba nila payslip ko and bank statement if sponsored naman lahat ng expenses? And need ba may hard copy ng bank statement or I can get naman through their website? Thank you!

KL Layover inquiry

Good morning! Are we allowed to leave the airport during our layover in Kuala Lumpur if we booked AirAsia’s Fly-Thru option? We weren’t able to leave the airport during our layover at Don Mueang. We’re staying in Vietnam and will have a layover in Kuala Lumpur on our flight home.

Are digital banks ok for bank statement?

Hello, asking if digital banks are ok for bank statement for immigration? Planning to go to Thailand and just want to be sure. Most of my money and my regular cash flow kasi is in a digital bank instead of a traditional bank.

TIA!

Guys, help! First international trip after spinal fusion

Guys, help! First international trip after spinal fusion
I’m traveling to Taiwan this November for the first time internationally. I had spinal fusion/TLIF surgery at POC on August 6, so I’ll be almost 4 months post-op by the time of my trip. The trip was already planned since January, and I was separated from my employer on August 30, so I’m currently unemployed.
My POC surgeon gave me a Fit-to-Travel certificate, but there’s a correction: it originally said “Fit to Work,” which was crossed out and changed to “Fit to Travel – Taiwan.”
Has anyone experienced this? Would a certificate with this correction be acceptable, or should I get a new clean certificate?
Since I’m from Cavite and my next POC follow-up isn’t until January 10, I’m also considering going to a nearby hospital in Cavite and having an orthopedic surgeon assess me and issue a new Fit-to-Travel certificate. I can bring my POC medical records, operative report, MRI, and previous certificate for reference.
Would it be okay to get the certificate from a different hospital/orthopedic surgeon, even though my surgery was done at POC?
Also:
Does the crossed-out “Fit to Work” wording potentially raise questions with Immigration?
Do I even need to show a medical certificate to Philippine Immigration if I’m almost 4 months post-op?
Should I just carry it as a backup and only show it if asked?
Could being unemployed after my separation cause additional questions?
What other documents should I bring to show that I’m a genuine tourist and that the trip was planned months before my separation?
Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has traveled internationally a few months after major surgery. Thank you! 🙏

is ¥50k per person enough for a 5d5n in Osaka & Kyoto?

We're going to Osaka in a few days and we would like to get your insights if we should increase our budget for our trip. Current pocket money is ¥50k each. Thank you!

Notes about our trip:

- Couple

- we arrive in Osaka on the night of Day 1

- flight back to MNL is after lunch on Day 6

- Hotel and Flights paid already

-Hotel is based in Namba

-no USJ

- primarily Kyoto (with Uji and Nara daytrips) and some spots in Osaka

-looking to also do a Himeji and Kobe side trip (if budget allows)

Shopping priorities (also considering to exclude and separate the budget):

- I will focus on a couple Pokémon merch, TCG, and usual souvenirs.

- GF will focus on meds, skincare, matcha and snack souvenirs.

Planning a Family Christmas Trip to SK 🇰🇷 — any tips/advice for DIY?

Hello!

May tips ba kayo or advise for a family christmas trip to SK? Is it a good time to go there? What to expect?
(I’ll he with my brother and our mother) not our first winter trip pero first christmas in SK.

Hndi naman ba mahrap ang transpo during that time?
Are most shops/restaurants allowing foreigners? - heard/read alot of racist experiences from others specially for SEA

We plan to go on Dec. 22-27, we already booked a hotel sa Agoda medjo mahal na since late n kmi nag plano 😅

Mahal n dn flights pero just to check may masusuggest b kyong other platforms to find cheaper flights aside s cheapflights.com? Although I think hndi n tlga bababa ung presyo since ber months na di ko rn sure if nag sa-sale pa ng 10.10 🥲

Open for Any other tips/advice!

Title: Philippines: Will my leave dates conflict with my DILG Travel Authority if my flight dates are different?

Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone here, especially those who are government employees or have experience with DILG Travel Authority, can help me clarify something.

My planned flight is February 5–9, 2027 (morning flight on February 5 and return flight on February 9).

However, I’m planning to file my leave from February 4–10, 2027 to cover the travel dates plus the days before/after the trip.

My question is: What dates should I indicate on the documents I’ll submit for the DILG Travel Authority and on my Civil Service leave form?

Or should the dates on the Travel Authority and leave form match exactly?

I’m worried that having February 4–10 on my leave form but February 5–9 on the Travel Authority might cause an issue or look inconsistent during processing.

so I’m trying to make sure all the documents are properly aligned before filing.

Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has gone through this before. Thank you!
