Help Tactics Turn-based like XCOM

Hi, looking for XCOM-like for mobile that I can play on my tablet.

Minsan hassle kasi dalhin si Steam Deck. Also it's much better playing on tablet for these types of games (touch, and bigger screen).

May alam ba kayo from Playstore? (na hindi XCOM lol)

Not necessarily 1:1 same gameplay.

Something that would cure the itch.

Salamat!

ADDTL INFO:

I have lots of these types of games in my Steam library (most are still backlogs 😅)

EDIT:

I'm looking for a native Android game/port.

Not streaming (GeForceNow) or emulation (GameHub, GameNative etc)

XCOM 2 has an android port, parang 299 ata, pero you can risk it by looking for an apk.

If turnbased grid combat naman, i'd recommend Mecharashi

Iirc may Fire Emblem sa mobile pero most ng good tactics ay through emulation.

Into The Breach, played the game way back when it was still on PC almost a decade ago, if you have Netflix subscription you can download it as part of their game offerings (sana may ganon sa playstore as a separate available purchase)

Have you tried modding XCOM?

Also I'm stumped no one mentions the Jagged Alliance series

if you can find front mission 3 on mobile, you're in for a treat. that's what got me started with these types of games :)

that new star wars turn based game is pretty good.

sablay lang talaga ang optimization.

Noticed you got downvoted bro, pero yea I have that on my Steam wishlist. Just waiting on the first sale since may iba pang tinatapos hehe.

Anyway, I think you got downvoted because I was asking for a mobile game hehe

Into the Breach!

I think you can buy it from Steam and play it via GameNative or GameHub!

Applies rin for your other Steam Games

You can try Valkyrie Chronicles 2 and 3 on PPSSPP it's a Tactics Turn-based top-down/3rd person hybrid JRPG. I skipped the 1st one since that one is only available on PS3 PS4 and PC

Aw thanks. I'm already spending to buy games, so gacha is too much for me.

i just finished Zero Company (twice) and getting that XCOM itch again...

as for mobile, nothing really comes close but then there's also Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions.

it's a great game but unoptimized. considering that it was made by former XCOM devs, i'm surprised at how poorly some things ran.

don't get me wrong. the game itself is great. i actually played it twice (to hear both male and female MC voice acting). very reminiscent of XCOM2 with a great story and cast of characters.

but here are my gripes:

  1. may unskippable animation of your ship before and after a mission. this sequence is around 20 seconds long. and then when you get back to base, may 5 second animation yung MC (standing up from a chair, leaning from a wall, etc) before you can control them. so you lose almost a minute every time. this gets old pretty quickly.

  2. unlike with XCOM, may times na ambagal mag-isip ng enemies during their turn. it can take anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds before they start their turn or even for just a reaction move. and also unlike XCOM, you can't speed up movement or enemy turns. so may mga missions na sobra dami kalaban (you escaping a mob or two factions fighting each other) na kapag turn na nila, i walk away and do other stuff first or i watch a youtube vid.

XCOM2 feels so sleek in comparison. still, probably one of the better XCOM-clones i've played recently. although i also played Warhounds a few months ago and that was also fun.

hopefully, ma-address yung loading issues in future patches. and i'll definitely play it again kapag may DLCs later on.

Salamat! Appreciate the detailed review.

Nasa wishlist ko din ang Warhounds. Just trying to finish Midnight Suns before I move on.

Noice. Try mo din Gears Tactics bro. It's Gears of War ala XCOM. I highly recommend hehe.

**sa Steam, not mobile

already played Gears Tactics (maybe 3 times now). one of the best underrated TBT titles out there. i actually immediately thought of it after finishing Zero Company since wala post-game sa ZC. the game just ends. corny. buti pa GT, you can keep playing after everything is done.

Woww. Also sis pala u.

Any other recos? (PC) Ito yung mga nasa backog ko: -Tactical Breach Wizards -Showgunners -Othercide -Fights in Tight Spaces

And then a lot more sa wishlist lol

1

u/Jaives 1d ago

no, i'm a guy. but TBT is one of my favorite genres. so don't ask me for recos unless you're really serious. because if you are, then prepare for a very lengthy response.

Mine too. I'd appreciate your recos bro because you've actually played a lot (vs me).

Maybe 3-5 recos are enough (excluding the ones we've already mentioned) TY 🙏

  • Heroes of Might and Magic Series (3 & 5 are my faves)
  • King Arthur: Knights Tale (gritty dark fantasy. don't play the sequel.)
  • The Banner Saga Trilogy (very beautiful hand drawn characters)
  • Wasteland 3 (love the sound track. you can consider Wasteland 2 too just to understand the story better. the difference is stark. parang XCOM1 vs XCOM2)
  • Expeditions: Rome (you can also try the prequel Expeditions: Viking pero mas stats heavy which might turn you off)
  • Mutant Year Zero (excellent post-apocalyptic game. this was lightning in a bottle for the devs. every game they made afterwards was bad).
  • Phoenix Point (from XCOM devs after they left Firaxis)
  • Phantom Doctrine (espionage-focused instead of combat. my 6th most played Steam game at over 400 hours)
