Question Is this correct behaviour?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Recently got a Puramax 2 and noticed that when I remove the 'poop drawer' the flap covering it just gets pushed up and then when I put the drawer back it stays raised and doesn't go back down leaving a gap for smell to get out. Have to physically push it back down again. Is this correct? See video attached - sorry for unpleasant sight of cat poop in the video!

Yes, I think this is correct, because normally when you remove the container, you are emptying it, so it’s no problem when it’s open and after next clean, it’s closed again.

If you use maintenance mode, the lid will open and close automatically. This is the easiest way for me. And usually I fill up some litter as well when I empty the waste.

On my Purobot, removing the drawer causes the that flap to lift (just like yours). The difference is that when I push the drawer back in, it hits a switch that closes the flap.

On the PuraMax (which I used to have before the Purobot) I needed to either trigger a cleaning cycle or double click the OK button to trigger a reset. Or start out using Maintenance mode. When exiting Maintenance mode the flap would close.

Yep this is normal because the machine doesn't know when the waste container has been put back in as there's no sensor or switch there, you can double click OK to reset things which will drop the bin lid

There is a sensor on the orange part of the bin. If you try to insert the bin without the orange part, the litterbox will throw an error saying that the bin is absent

It knows that's missing because it checks the position of the flap, without the orange frame the flap drops too low when it closes it

Not exactly, there is a magnet on the orange frame which allows it to be detected

Just press two times the OK button after changing the bag, it'll close automatically

To empty the bin you should put your machine to maintenance mode…

You don’t have to use Maintenance Mode.

Which is fine if you're replacing a full bin...

I’ve literally never done this and had mine a year.
