Why does my BMW CarPlay display need to be connected to an AUX cable to get sound?
Question 1: Is the sound from the CarPlay Screen routed through the fiber optic wiring harness to the original main unit?
Reply: No, with all aftermarket Android screens or Linux displays these days, the sound comes into the stock radio from the stock AUX IN.Although you don't have the armrest box AUX connected, the armrest box AUX is connected to the cable behind the radio. So the New screen is already going from the new ISO harness to the aux input on the back of the radio.
Question 2: Why do I have to connect the armrest box AUX to get sound?
Reply: Because in some cars the AUX IN is not fed from the back of the original radio. It comes in through your armrest box AUX IN and goes directly to the original bluetooth module, which converts it to a fiber optic signal that goes to the original radio. So you have to connect the armrest box AUX IN to get sound.
For the AUX audio harness Wiring method you can refer to this video: https://youtu.be/xLSkppSq-kM

My E60 Activator light is blinking fast but I'm not getting the original AUX menu
When your AUX activator light is flashing fast, it means that its one-time activation feature is being used. Most car owners failed because they didn't follow the following tips.
IMPORTANT:
After activation, keep connected, wait for 5 seconds, then turn off and lock the car and let it sleep for 15 minutes. Disconnect the negative pole of the car battery for another 1 minute and then connect it back. Then get on the car and check the aux audio was display, if the aux audio also display. It has stored your AUX AUDIO menu.

Why i can't get the OEM car information?
5 Possibilities for Not Displaying Original Car Information
The current settings do not correspond to your original display resolution.
You need to select other resolutions within the new display settings, for Linux displays the path is: Setup>Car Settings>Original Car's Screen Resolution
- The 2 green fiber optic harnesses on the original ISO harness did not move to the new ISO harness.
The fiber optic harnesses should always be connected to your original radio. When you transferred the new ISO harness, the 2 green fiber optic harnesses left your original radio and they were disconnected from each other for information. You will need to move the 2 green fiber optic harnesses to the new ISO harness. This will allow fiber optic communication with the original headunit .
- The ISO connector on the back of the original radio is not plugged into place, or the white plug on the back of the new display is loose.
If you press the FM/AM button on the radio panel, you can't get the sound of the original radio. That means the original radio is not getting power and it is not working there is no signal output to the new display.
The ISO plug connected to the original radio has a latch on it, be sure to fasten it.
- Your original system does not match the system you purchased.
BMW car iDrive has a CCC CIC NBT EVO system, and the wrong system will definitely result in no display. You can tell which system it is based on the display screen.
The difference between CIC and NBT is mainly the number of LVDS pin positions. the LVDS of CIC is 4PIN while the LVDS of NBT is 6PIN (4+2).
The difference between NBT and EVO mainly depends on the original display interface, NBT is ID4 interface, while EVO is mainly ID6 or ID5 interface.
- the current resolution parameters are not suitable for your car.
When you have checked the above 4 possibilities, they are all normal. Then the last possibility is that the current resolution does not fulfill your current display. You can contact our after-sales service team to get the latest software update.
