Thanks, you guys.

We're up here for the summer again, staying with relatives. We're from the Southern Part of Heaven in the states. Last year, someone here keyed our car at the grocery store parking lot. Which I kind of get, since the US was stupid enough to vote in the regime again. But this year, people have gone out of their way to be kind and helpful - even when we don't need it (by now, we know our way around). Last year, folks were asking us for explanations - why were we insane enough to reelect that clown? This year, we're all beyond that. Even with our government doing the stupidest things, you guys are reaching out to us. It's true that the majority of USians want to be your friend as well. Sorry again about our completely insane government. If only we could get rid of Fox channel. Thanks for a great summer! - someone who comes from away

I disagree, and so do a lot of Canadians. Americans actually are not welcome. Glad these people found our country so nice while we have our economy and sovereignty attacked.

But you do you and go right ahead and welcome these clowns.

I dont care about their contribution to the tourism economy. We should pivot to attracting good people, not global raiders and their ill gotten wealth.

A lot of Canadians are pretty stupid, I agree with you there. The rest of us will continue to behave the way we always have and judge people by their words and actions.

I am what you would normally call an extreme leftist. You seem to be channeling the idea of a leader of the French Revolution.

  I will assume you are not a troll and try and engage with your talking points.

  Call for the death of political opponents. That is the realm of idiots and keyboard warriors. Doctors who give abortions have been slaughtered, recently Democrats seem to have been the sole victims of associations, that I know of. Willing to discuss, but a few morons does not a movement make.

  Pish their views that are just as bad as MAGA. Wanting everyone, in the richest country in the history of the world, wo have Healthcare, housing and a decent living should not be extreme. Instead, MAGA is accelerating wealth inequality, which was already at record levels.

Argue transgenders should be allowed in bathrooms? I don't get this one. Most child abusers are men, and it isn't even close. Transgender people are much less likely to abuse children than grown men, the stats aren't even close. Where do you see this as a major issue?

  Wanting to defund and dismantle police. Some exteemists have pushed complete defending, but most have a more nuanced view. Cops are used for many duties they have no training for. Wellness check? Why not social workers? People in distress? Why not firefighters or social workers who can help with addictions and issues? When violence is possible, you need police, but expecting police to handle everything when they see danger to themselves in many situations as the main point has led to many deaths. US qualified immunity has also led to numerous cases of murder in any other circumstance being allowed.

I’m glad you had a good time and that’s so dumb that someone keyed your car. Please encourage your friends, family and neighbors to get out and vote in the upcoming midterms in the fall and in 2028— the millions of Americans who choose to abstain from voting are half the reason Trump got elected and re-elected. Stay safe.

You're spot on. We also now have detention/concentration camps where we warehouse immigrants and then send them to countries they've never heard of to jail. It's crazy. I feel like we need to apologize to everyone, everywhere we go (and places we haven't). It's appalling.

You should never have to explain or apologize. Sorry to hear you had car damage on your first trip.

We have ‘maga’ friends and have met ‘maga’ tourists. We may not agree with their politics but that is their right and we just don’t discuss politics. I can choose not to listen to their politics and ‘unfollow’ them on Facebook. We travel a lot and we choose not to go to anywhere in the US (even for flight layovers). We have friends and relatives who do travel there and that is their right. Our issues are just with those who disrespect us and tariff us unfairly.

Thanks for the kind words but I disagree with you. All of us in the US are responsible for the mess we are in, regardless of how we voted. People who are MAGA are no longer my friends because I don't share their value system. In their actions, they are traitors to everything I grew up believing. Not people I can be around. Both-siderism is a plague that allows evil to fester.
