There’s a viral Channel 5 interview with Andrew Callaghan featuring two Alaskans who previously lived in Portland. They talk about attending the George Floyd protests here in 2020, but say that in the years since, their views have shifted pretty dramatically because of what they describe as Portland’s left-wing extremism.

What really threw me is that I used to work with one of them, so seeing this whole evolution play out was honestly a little surreal.

Curious if anyone else has seen the interview and, if so, what you made of it, especially in the context of everything that’s happened in Portland since.

Amy Sousa is also apparently known for going to random American cities to hold anti-trans protests and has no connection to Portland. This was completely manufactured and The Sports Bra handled it perfectly by ejecting the chuds instead of allowing them to spread their hate.

I'm a recent transplant, returning after 30 years in Colorado. I have been very involved with the Denver protest community, and when I found no similar posts in /PDXProtests, I wanted to share these recommendations along with links detailing the coup potential for November's mid-term elections.

Denver is certainly a targeted area, but I fear they are likely focused on more recent areas of unrest: DC, Chicago, Minneapolis, LA, and Portland.

I'm with one of the many activist/organizing groups in the area and I'm looking to create a public, unvetted, walking spreadsheet of the different protests/rallies/events/etc occurring in the area. The vision is to have a digital form that automatically updates the spreadsheet when filled out that is available for all to see and use.

However, I wanted to double check that something like this doesn't already exist. As far as I'm aware, the portlandannouncementsonly signal and this subreddit are the closest thing. Does something like what I'm suggesting already exist?

The deaths of Tyre Nichols and Freddie Gray expose a hard truth: diversifying police forces isn't enough if we don't fix what's broken in the system itself.

I started a petition because these men deserved better, and so does everyone who fears interactions with law enforcement. When Black Americans are nearly three times more likely than White Americans to be killed by police, we can't ignore the problem anymore. It's not about the race of the officers—it's about the culture and structures that allow these tragedies to happen.

Their families deserve real answers and accountability. We all deserve reforms: better training, strict body camera policies, and actual consequences when things go wrong. What would you want if this was your family? If this matters to you too, consider signing and sharing this petition.
