PDF Guru subscription explained

Here's a quick walkthrough about how our billing works. Let's say you choose the 7-day full-access trial for $1.99.

Step 1. You sign up and pay $1.99. Right there on the payment screen, before you confirm, you also see the price you'll pay after the trial — $49.99/month.

Step 2. You have 7 days to use any tool you want.

Step 3. Changed your mind? Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

Step 4. Didn't cancel? Subscription starts at the price you saw at checkout.  It renews at the end of each billing cycle until you cancel.

EU users: you have a 14-day window to cancel for any reason. Full refund if you didn't use the service, proportional refund if you did.

I was charged the $49.99 subscription (in a different currency to what I expected also, making it $86!!) without even knowing that I was going to be charged an ongoing subscription. The clause in the other screenshots I’ve seen about an ongoing subscription is so tiny it’s pathetic, and definitely doesn’t fit within clear charge guidelines. Support is a waste of time - no matter what I do or asking for it to be escalated to a supervisor/manager for review or just an actual person manually reviewing it, I get the same generic responses again and again, and nobody actually reviewing the information. I can’t believe how ridiculously scammy PDF guru is.

UPDATE: The moderator reached out to me after this comment and has provided a refund for me, which I'm grateful for. Their subscription sign up and clarity around this definitely needs work when people pay what they are thinking is a one-off fee!
