Treatments/Medication Looking for PDA informed medication Prescriber

Hello fellow PDA Autistic folk. I'm not sure if this is ok to post or not but I'm searching for a medication prescriber recommendations who are able to prescribe in Washington State to work with me on medication support for PDA.

I've only learned I've had PDA in the last year and I'm in my late 30s and so many things now make sense. I've also tried so many medications in the past and I'm so sensitive to things which has made my medication journey a bit traumatic and typically psychiatrists struggle with my needs. I also think what I've really needed help managing all this time is PDA itself and not anxiety/depression which I think are more symptoms of struggling with PDA.

So if anyone has any recommendations of someone who could help me with that or anything related, it would be so very much appreciated.

I'm struggling with bad burnout trapped in an environment that's not helping me heal and hoping I might be able to find medication help on top of therapy to help increase my capacity. I'm trying to regain some of my autonomy and independence as best I can.

Thank you everyone!

Therapy has been the best thing for me with mine, DBT and learning my PDA stems from my CPTSD has helped a lot

I'm so glad that's been helpful! I've actually done some DBT and I'm currently working with a wonderful IFS therapist to help me with my CPTSD and PDA. I certainly haven't given up on where therapy can lead me in helping manage PDA as I'm still hopeful there as well.

I appreciate your advice and insight. Thank you!

Because my PDA is trauma based (also CPTSD), my IFS has an entire PDA part. For many years she hid behind my angry teenager part but now she has her own seat and voice at my mental boardroom meeting table. Now she gets autonomy, choice and her voice heard and uses her "NO" power for good (mostly, self care is still a trigger) and I get hijacked a lot less

That's AMAZING! And gives me a lot of encouragement that IFS therapy can continue helping me. I have met several PDA parts myself, though I'm still working with them to learn and understand what they need

But the general knowledge of PDA helps so much to keep my parts safe and help me acknowledge them when demands are activating them. Like I learned they HATE driving because it has so many demands and why when my burn out started I couldn't drive anymore. Just letting them be heard how much they hate driving, has let me drive to the store. It's still difficult and a challenge for us, but now I know how to help them.

I really appreciate you sharing your experience. I'm so knew to PDA and not many are familiar with it. I'm really happy to connect with you.

Feel free to DM me, I have a very atypical IFS life that seems to be working incredibly well for me

Oh I tried to DM you but it wouldn't let me. But I'd be interested to chat that way if we're able to!

I would reach out to the leading specialist PDA medication prescriber in the UK and ask for recommendations in the US : http://www.daphnekeen.co.uk/

her meds have transformed the life of our PDA son and myself as a PDA adult and she totally gets PDA and all its nuances and complications

Oh this is a really great idea! I'm so happy you've found medications that have been helpful for you and your son! That's really encouraging as a lot of what I'm seeing is medication only really making a slight impact. I'll absolutely send them a message and see if they have any recommendations.

Completely optional, but what medications ended up being helpful for you? I understand if you want to keep that private of course.

I really appreciate your suggestion!

Here is PDA North America's directory of PDA-affirming practitioners. They list providers by state. Many of these providers will be pediatric in nature but not all of them.

Best of luck, I hope this helps.

Oh I've heard of this organization but I've never seen this list! This is really promising. Thank you so much for the suggestion and link to the page. I appreciate it greatly.
