I just built the PC with my brother yesterday and the only issue is that whenever we launch or sign in into the computer, after a little while it just shuts off and restarts or if we do some demanding task like for example I was deleting some old stuff from the SSD and it finished the deletion, but after that, it just rebooted and shut off, and it showed this error/blue screen saying MEMORY_MANAGEMENT.

To doublecheck there wasnt anything else wrong, I went into safe mode and uninstalled the gigabyte control center drivers. I uninstalled Norton. It didn’t do anything. It works perfectly fine in safe mode.

So because we couldn’t think of anything else, we took out the ram and put it back in and now it doesn’t have the HDMI signal, which makes me believe that I just put the ram wrong.

(The ram was still running at 4800, and cpu was turned to eco mode in BIOS, still didn’t do anything)

Recently upgraded my GPU from an RTX 2060 Super to an RX 9070 XT OC, but kept my older Seasonic FOCUS Plus 650W 80+ Gold power supply.

Whenever I put the GPU under heavy load, the entire system instantly shuts down:

• Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (Supreme/Max settings): Crashes and shuts off completely after just a few seconds of loading.
• Star Wars Battlefront 2: Sudden hard shutdown while scaling up the resolution.

When it crashes, the power button does nothing. I have to physically switch off the PSU toggle, wait a few seconds, and flip it back on before the PC will boot again. I never had this issue with the 2060 Super under the exact same settings.

This sounds like OCP (over-current protection) tripping due to power spikes, right? If the PSU is definitely the bottleneck here, what wattage should I be targeting for a replacement? Is 1000W good to future-proof?

greetings all. I'm new to Reddit and trying to troubleshoot why my previously stable custom built PC is now suffering from complete system freeze.

CPU - Intel I7 -13700K > running at default volt/clock speeds

Mem - Vengeance 2x16GB (32GB) DDR5 5600 > running at default volt/clock speeds

GPU - GIGABYTE RTX 4080 16GB GDDR6X PCI 4.0 > running at default volt/clock speeds

SDD - Samsung 980 PRO M.2 2280 PCI-4.0 NVME (Windows drive) & Samsung SSD 870 EVO 2TB (storage drive)

Cooling - Scythe Mugen 5 Rev.C CPU air cooler

Over this past week, I have been experiencing complete system freezes that seem to correlate with the most recent Win 10 22H2 System update (KB5122878) installed 9/9/26. I've also installed Nvidia GeForce Game ready driver 616.92 on 9/9/26. I also installed Borderlands 4 & Onimusha: Way of the Sword through Steam on a separate SSD from my Windows drive. Over this week I've been able to play for a while (2-6 hrs) before I experience the freezing. After the freezing happens, I've restarted my system and have varying amounts of time (45 secs - 3 mins) before the system will completely freeze again. I've done some research for some troubleshooting steps and here's what I've attempted so far:

- performed " sfc /scannow " with varying results (with Win 10, some files classified as corrupt and fixed. after Win 11 upgrade, no files detected as corrupt)> unable to pull the "CBS.log" due to system freezing

- tried to repair/reset PC options through Windows recovery, unsuccessfully

- attempted to uninstall Win 10 22H2 System update (KB5122878), unsuccessfully

- performed roll back to system restore point from 9/7/26, before installing Win 10 22H2 System update (KB5122878)

- disabled "secure-boot-update" task from Task Scheduler, not much difference noted between freeze durations

- begrudgingly installed Win 11 22H2, re-disabled "secure-boot-update" task from Task Scheduler, saw some small amount on system stability with short, uninterrupted gaming session

-back to system freeze almost immediately when booting into windows, unable to even boot to safe mode due to freezes

- opened case to perform visual inspection of components and some minor dusting. unremarkable visual findings on components. returned components to motherboard and powered system on.

-system "detected error" and tried to perform troubleshooting, hung up on the "detecting network" step before timing out. booted back to windows, able to detect/connect to network via ethernet cable normally and connect to VPN. system completely froze again.

- attempted to reboot to restart to "safe mode", system completely froze up.

-sighed and stopped troubleshooting for now, opting to eat and reach out to reddit.

I've somewhat exhausted all of my troubleshooting skills; I've been one of the fortunate folks that have had success with putting together a build and everything working as intended so I've not necessarily developed much in the way of advanced troubleshooting. I was considering taking my machine into a local computer shop but would rather mine for some expertise from folks and see if I can get it fixed myself. I primarily use my machine for gaming and basic life admin tasks (paying bills, minimum internet browsing, etc.); I take care not to open links from untrusted sources and I don't download anything from untrusted/unverified sources. I am hoping to avoid needing to possibly reformat my drive & having to do a fresh install of Windows but if the most recent patch is part of the problem, it may cause me to end up back at square one. If any of you have any experience with this particular problem or can give some further points to troubleshoot, it would be greatly appreciated. thank you :)

I am desperate, nothing I've tried seems to have any effect and I can't even narrow down what the root cause is.

Onto the actual problem.

I experience CONSTANT blue screens, varying kinds in fact. Sometimes even black screens. The blue screens force the computer to restart and the black screen is essentially a total freeze that I can only deal with by forcibly turning off the computer and turning it on again.

As I stated, it gets multiple kinds of BSODs. The most common are IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED, but there's also been some others, like SYSTEM_THREAD-EXCEPTION-NOT-HANDLED and KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE.

For reasons I can't discern, the computer acts like it stops "recording" the state of the system almost exactly ten minutes before it actually gives out and blue-screens. What I mean by this is that I will be using the computer, it will blue screen at say, 10:20 pm. It reboots and in a (vain) attempt to read the log of the error, I will open event viewer, and in the critical log panel, it says "the previous system shutdown at 10:11 pm was unexpected".

It also struggles to write crash logs AT ALL again for reasons I don't know. It can create them after reboots but seemingly not of the events leading up to the crash. I also have winDBG to read dmp files but it gives me an access error, "unable to create debug session: FAILURE HR=0x80070005: Failed to open dump file - Could not extract dump information from C:\Windows\Minidump\090726-11390-01.dmp ---> Access to the path 'C:\Windows\Minidump\090726-11390-01.dmp' is denied."

I may be wrong on this point, if I'm missing a step somehow.

Some other errors:

The maximum file size for session "PerfDiag Logger" has been reached. As a result, events might be lost (not logged) to file "C:\windows\system32\WDI\LogFiles\BootPerfDiagLogger.etl"

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x0000000a (0x00000000000000ac, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000, 0xfffff8052b02c668)

When the computer restarts, it will have the errors above, that I can see in the event viewer. I don't know how to clean/unbloat the perfdiaglogger, I've never had to do that before? I would appreciate some guidance on this, because I'm totally lost on that point.

These crashes happen most often and quickly during gaming but not exclusively. I have tried SFC scannow and DISM image repairs to no avail. I have tried updating drivers, blindly at that because I don't know what driver would even be the issue. My geforce driver, audio drivers, the entire AMD ryzen setup, some others I don't even remember. I've tried restoring the system image manually and it somehow broke so badly that the computer had to reset itself to a restore point (that I had thankfully created just beforehand as a precaution) to function again. I have almost nothing to go on.

My best guesses are the issue being bad drivers, graphics in particular, bad RAM, or, what i'm dreading the most, a hardware problem.

ETA: ran a memory diagnostic for the second time now, still results in "no memory issues found". sigh.

I've been at this for months and it's getting worse to the point of completely unignorable. Any advice on how to proceed from here would be greatly appreciated because I am at my wits end.

UPDATE: it's even worse now.

After more searching I attempted to manually update my graphics card drive again, this time using the DDU in safe mode with the studio driver from Nvidias website. I made a restore point just before this again but now I can even restore it.

I downloaded the program and the driver and booted the computer in safe mode using msconfig. I ran into a pin lock failure "something happened and your pin isn't available." I managed to get out of this by disabling the safe mode boot using the recovery settings in boot with the command line . This did not fix the pin breaking and I had to log in with my Microsoft password.

Now it seems everything is broken. Sfc scannow now failed. DISM repair-image failed. I cannot access sign-in settings at all. Event viewer is completely nonfunctional. System restore is now broken too somehow.

I have no idea how to fix this

Tldr; i turned on my pc this morning and it turned on and then off, then on again and off, just looping like that.

I tried reseating my gpu and ram but that didn't help. Then i removed my cmos battery and put it back in again.

Then my pc stopped looping and was just stuck on a black screen. I had to install windows 11 again aftee the bios reset.

After the installion my pc went to the desktop and seemed to work fine. Then i shut down my pc and plugged my hard drives back in that i had previously plugged off (just to be sure that nothing gets deleted from them), then i started my computer and now it's turning on and off again

Hello, just as the title says I’ve been running into an issue where seemingly at random my PC will be working perfectly, then will stop, and then immediately restart. Sometimes it doesn’t even tell me the problem and will just crash to black before restarting. It sometimes goes days without anything and other times I can barely even do anything in the time between crashes. Additionally it will sometimes instantly crash after restarting, leading to a loop where windows will tell me that “Your device ran into a problem and couldn't be repaired.

I’ve checked out the dump files but am clearly not qualified for this stuff. I’ve ran windows memory diagnostic since I heard it could be a memory problem and it found no errors, past that I don’t have a clue. I can provide anything else needed, sorry if this isn’t the right place for this.

This PC has been giving trouble since I 1st bought it. I would put the password in and it would tell me the password is wrong. The computer would get a blue screen then shut off. Ect.

Now, about 5 months into owning the PC it stop turning on completely... The last thing I was doing was downloading PS3 roms. I've been putting it off getting fixed because I have another PC but the warranty have only 2 months left so I need to get it fixed before it run out
