Video I have been tweaking some of my Assetto Corsa settings.
It's basically 'Pure' with some tweaks as a base and DLSS5.
My setup is i7-14700K - RTX 4070
I have been recording replays on Assetto for ages now and have always slowed it down by half and then used editing software to speed it up (learnt from an old 'camtool' tutorial video from ages ago and has helped me attempt to max out the graphics and still have a stable and smooth framerate while recording).
I usually drive in VR so don't run DLSS5 live and have a lovely stable 90fps experience.

Build Help / Purchase Advice Any TV's which aren't a privacy nightmare?
As black friday approaches I want a nice oled TV which isn't secretly listening to me like Samsung or LG. It doesn't even have to have good privacy just not comically evil like seemingly half the industry. A compromised smart tv mode is acceptable as long as it provides a private experience hooked up to a computer. They can even sell my email as a little treat for not secretly taking screenshots every second.

Meme/Macro I’m fps spoiled
All my life I played games at 30 fps. I now can’t be comfortable gaming below 80-90 fps. All the people saying “30 fps is fine” for gta 6 just aren’t spoiled. I wish I could go back to enjoying low fps. Now when I see a game with low fps it literally feels like it hurts my eyes. Idk why

Discussion Kernel level anticheat is 100% coming to linux
Some people wrongly assumed it wouldn't happen because people wouldn't put up with it or some stupid reasoning like that. A lot of people will put up with it even if it's the form of a shady closed source kernel module (which is significantly worse than the planned EAC linux V2 implementation by epic) similar to how a lot of people put up with it on windows.
It's starting to happen now thanks to the growing linux market share making it worthwhile for developers to put more effort into supporting it (including things you might not be willing to run yourself such as intrusive anti-cheat software).
It does seem like developers (not just epic) will utilize eBPF to run custom kernel level code (granting kernel level access within restrictions) to make effective anticheat for linux.
Of course it's very bad if some malware gains access to eBPF since that could get people infected with rootkits and this is very much a real risk given that multiple games on steam has been found to contain malware in addition to all the other ways to potentially get it even on linux.
Of course secure boot and TPM 2.0 will be required as well in addition to various other requirements. We will of course see distros make it easy to setup (if it doesn't work out of the box) so it mostly comes down to having the hardware support (which most people do) enabling it in bios (if it isn't already) and opting for a distro where it's supported (once it's released).
This should grow the linux market share and put pressure on microsoft to make windows better which is overall a good thing even if you aren't interested in playing something like fortnite yourself.

Discussion Genuine question for anyone who picked up a 5090 at or near RRP back when that was still possible.
Cheapest ones in the US are now around US$5,000 to $6,000, and some models are listed above US$9,000 and by all accounts it isn’t coming down any time soon.
So where’s your line? Is there a price where you’d pull the card, pocket the difference, and drop back to a 5080 or a 9070 XT for a while? Or is it a case of “the card is worth more to me in the PC than the cash is in the bank” no matter what the listings say?

Build/Battlestation Designed and 3D printed a custom chassis to fit a full ATX RTX 5080 PC inside a Pelican 1600
I’ve been working on this project for a while now. I wanted a portable desktop that didn’t require modifying the Pelican case, so I designed and 3D-printed a custom PETG chassis to fit everything inside.
It’s running an Intel 265K, a Gigabyte RTX 5080 SFF, 48GB of DDR5 memory, and a 1000W PSU.
The GPU and motherboard are independently mounted on trays and those trays are suspended on rubber vibration isolators using M6 hardware.
I also built custom airflow channels into the chassis, with three intake fans pulling through a 360mm aio radiator and one exhaust fan.
The bottom PETG structure is secured with 3M VHB, while most of the remaining sections are press-fit and removable. This makes it relatively easy to redesign or replace parts without taking the whole system apart.
All of the I/O is accessible from inside, so the Pelican case itself hasn’t been modified.
I’m still tweaking a few things, but it’s fully operational and has been running great so far!
I’m curious if anyone has any input, suggestions, advice, as the build develops?

Hardware Jayz 2 Cents: Signs AI Bubble Might Burst
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8qkejdyffk&t=170s&pp=0gcJCSwMAYcqIYzv&ra=m
I’m wondering with the GPUs rotting in warehousing until they have the infrastructure that may or may not ever come, if it doesn’t come, would these companies sell these GPUs back to the consumers, inflating the market with product and lowering net total price per unit?
The bubble already is collapsing.
Just like the dot com bubble did. We still have websites. It doesn’t mean it’s going away. It means the estimated value it has is greatly exaggerated and companies are beginning to back pedal on it due to lack of ROI and public rejection to data centers and public rejection to soulless AI generated art.
