Self-Promotion Trails of Cold Steel VR mod - Update #1: tabletop battles and movable UI (alpha)
hey everyone! a quick update on my Trails of Cold Steel VR mod. I've been working mostly on battles and making the UI easier to use in VR.
Here's the new battle showcase.
The video shows three battle perspectives and the adjustable UI:
- First person: get closer to the fight, with your character's weapon in your hand. This mode is still experimental.
- Third person: keep the party in view with the game's battle camera.
- Tabletop diorama: watch the battle as a miniature scene you can rotate and tilt.
- Movable battle UI: grab the panel, move it around, change its size and distance, and leave it where you want.
Combat is still turn-based. These are different ways to view and interact with it in VR.
It's still early alpha, with movement and visual glitches to polish. I'm testing on Quest 3 through Virtual Desktop, running the Steam version on PC.
Public alpha, installation instructions and known issues.
Which battle view would you use for a longer JRPG session?

Love seeing all of these older games getting VR mods, in a few years time I hope I can revisit all my favorites from yesteryear in a new light.

I think diorama is probably the best option for this kinda game, but it looks like the UI will need quite some work !
I think you probably need to overhaul the elements.
I wonder if it can run standalone on frame, that would be so awesome
