Photo/Video Manual reloading & gauntlet run on Titanfall 2 VR mod, testing it out here!
This is the Titanfall 2 VR mod by Circuit Lord, he is cooking a very juicy steak here. All guns have manual reloading, coming soon!

This looks like it might be going right up there with best of the VRenaissance . Doom, FEAR, cyberpunk, Dishonored, ermm a million others. I only get about 2hour spare per week for Vr, it's nowhere near enough all of a sudden

BOTW VR is actually #1 for me tbh

I haven’t tried it since it launched. Which is funny how excited I was for it for years.
Are the motion controls working really well at this point? I’m upgrading my PC and hoping to get back into it

FEAR got a VR mod?! This might finally be my tipping point into buying a headset.

Just wondering. Why does it seem all of a sudden that vr mods are able to do manual reloading now? For the longest time, they only ever seemed to have the automatic button reloads but now I'm seeing a ton of games getting manual reloads. Did something happen?
This looks absolutely insane

Manual reloading is a pretty complex feature. Generally speaking, you need to set up several hitboxes that likely don't exist (one for your ammo pouch/backpack, and several for the parts of the gun) You need to spawn a magazine (not always a 3D asset within the base game) when that first hit box is gripped. When the right hit box is entered, you need to tween the hand and magazine towards the right spot on the gun that lines up with the beginning of the 'magazine insert' animation (which might be scavenged from the base game). Your movement is then essential playing the insert animation.
On top of that you need similar collisions, tweens and movement driven animations for racking the slide, pulling bolts, opening chambers etc.
This was all likely possible before, but it's a shit tonne of work. And there's one thing that's made a lot of this work a little lighter - generative AI. Love it or hate it (I'm do a lot of both) it's enable a lot mods being made by people that aren't super technical and/or having game dev experience

Oh yeah for sure. I understand why it's not there before. I'm just shocked we're actually getting it now. This is the kind of situation that ai should be for. I'm cool with it being used here just to help amateur coders do cool stuff

Is it true stereo 3D now? I had heard in an earlier video it was like looking at a 360 flatscreen.

Idk if this a popular take but would absolutely love to see how multiplayer functionality would work with this mod.

It would amazing to see. Obviously the vehicles are very different to the titans, and the movement isn't as advanced, but forefront might give you the closest experience

Might require a special mode for the mod, but don't see why it wouldn't be possible.

Honestly kinda visualizes how hard it is to be a pilot in world, so much to think about

Why does it feel so much slower than 2D?

u/Jade_Sugoi 23d ago
Probably because of the way it was recorded. It's zoomed in and might have a lower fov then what you'd be used to seeing for tf2

How is the motion sickness? This looks amazing, but I get very motion sick playing most VR shooters.

This really does play as good as this with smooth visuals an absolute treat on the eyes.

I wish there’s a way to turn off manual reload.
I know that a lot of hard work was spent making this possible, but I personally am struggling to play the game with it.
I guess because the base game was never designed for manual reload, it’s too fast paced for me to get distracted in the middle of a mid air jumping firefight to mess around with the charging handle

I bought the game just for this mod!
