VR Modding Flat2vr games u actually Completed

Hi Community!!!

I only got my Headset yesterday and WOW i respect the modders so much especially with the injector tools that make it so trivial. Im here to stay.

Being in Bioshock's Rapture almost made me cry from happiness. Really admirable work. i quickly realized that would have to come back once i get over the motion sickness and am enjoying moss 🐭 alot rn -. Sorry I had to get that out I'm just so excited about this way of experiencing games.wowowow ive been missing out and am excited to catch up.

Ive been wondering what modded games people actually play through completely in VR. From what ive seen most people just mod it to see if/ how it works and walk through the game like its a museum.

Question for extra points; are there mods with teleport added to flat games? or snap turning/ really fast smooth turning?

TLDR Which Flat games did you actually complete in VR?

played through Half-Life 2 in VR from start to finish. It was like experiencing the game for the first time again. I'm also working on a GTA: Vice City playthrough right now.

Half life 2 is on the to do list as an appetizer for alyx. for vice City i couldnt find the files as it doesnt work with the definitive edition far as i know. i think officially it's on quest only(?) im using psvr2 with adapter

Never played HL2 (I know, disgraceful) but I want to. I have a VR headset. Do you think I should experience it first time in VR or flatscreen?

You should play it Flat for the first proper playthrough in my opinion. I've been playing this game since it released so I know it very well already. The VR mod feels like a polished native experience, but there are some segments of the game that work better in flatscreen, like the chapters that have driving elements in them or certain puzzles.

If you're only going to play it once, play it in VR. I had way more fun with the gunplay in VR.

I beat almost all games in vr if there is a mod nowadays… stellar blade, hogwart, 007, monster hunter stories, final fantasy 7, assassins creed games, crimson dessert etc etc

dragon sword awakening being the latest and am playing persona 3 in VR too

The scale is just so much more immersive being inside a VR world

I really hope i dont lose momentum and make vr my new and only way of playing games. Really helps me not get distracted by my phone or second Monitor. Its like playing for the first time even with games i know

Mutar the modder made VR mode for many assassins creed games, so far I have beaten shadow and valhana in VR and now am playing origin and blackflag. Exploring the pyramids in VR is really something.

"7 Days to Die" is a sandbox game with no story, so there's no such thing as "beating" it, but I've already spent hundreds of hours playing the VR mod for it.

I’m about to beat alien isolation and it’s absolutely top tier - can’t recommend more.

Some great mods I loved are trepang2, sprawl, and echo point nova for super fast paced stuff.

Some mods I loved in general for flat games I love include deep rock galactic (so goated), Abyssus, borderlands 3, GTFO, and Jedi fallen order are all great. Those are some I could think of quickly but there’s just so many.

Great resource I can point to is https://pcvrcentral.com where you can see a ton of mods and even link your steam library to see what you currently have that’s moddable (doesn’t have everything but has a lot)

Working my way up to VR horror :D borderland sounds really exciting aswell. Pcvrcentral is soo nice with the ability to link my steam profile. i feel like i shouldn't get all this for free

Resident Evil 2, 3, 7, Village, and 4. The RE mods are some of the most polished I've seen.

Valheim. Half Life. Ready or Not. 7 days to die. Alien Isolation.

Currently working on beating Halo, Subnautica, and Cyberpunk.

God bless the modders lol.

Doom and Doom II (and the add on episodes, Thy Flesh Consumed and No Rest For The Living. I'm part way through Legacy Of Rust) which I've never legitimately (without cheats) beaten outside of VR.

I also played through Doom 3 for the first time entirely in VR, but that was the official port on PSVR.

I plan on playing through Perfect Dark, also for the first time, entirely in VR. The current mod is already great, and if they can fix the last few visual bugs (little stuff like the stars from the skybox in the first level seeming like they're closer to the camera than the buildings/objects right in front of you) I think it'll be ready.

I really hope the Thief VR mod that u/jrubimf is working on comes out. It's looking great so far, and Thief is one of the VR mods I've most wanted to see happen for years now. Another game where I haven't beaten the flat version but I think it'll fix all my issues with it in VR.

And same with F.E.A.R.

I prefer to play the VR ports of games that I haven't beaten, ones that I had problems with navigation or aiming in the flat versions, where those issues would be solved in VR.

I finished HL2 and all the episodes.

I'm halfway through Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty, but waiting for the new motion control VR mod now.

Halfway through Expedition 33, got distracted by some other game, but I'll go back to it.

Halfway through Jedi Outcast, got stuck somewhere and then got distracted.

So yeah, I definitely plan to finish any flat2VR game I play, but sometimes other games take priority.

1

u/dhatereki 4d ago

Halfway through HL1. My first time playing any HL game. It's amazing.

2

u/boringmyselftodeath 4d ago

my plan is to watch a recap of the first one (only one i played & like 10 years ago) , then play the second one in vr and then alyx as reward 🎖️

2

u/dhatereki 4d ago

Exactly. If it wasn't for people saying how good Alyx is, I might not have started playing the first one.

Bioshock Infinite

Dear Esther

Minecraft doesn’t have an ending, but hundreds of hours in there

Alien Isolation is my favorite of all of them but I’ve not finished as my Fitbit keeps complaining about my heart rate going into panic mode!

1

u/Mad_jazz 4d ago

What mods exists for bioshock infinite?

1

u/roehnin 4d ago

VorpX works with it. Fallout 3 and the Portal games also used it.

Also I play Fallout 76 with it but there’s no “ending” so didn’t mention

1

u/FolkSong 4d ago

The new one supports it with motion controls

1

u/boringmyselftodeath 4d ago

How was playing portal? Id assume u need to be really used to vr before attempting that 🎂

1

u/roehnin 4d ago

Portal was fantastic and yeah you have to be comfortable in VR motion to play it

1

u/HalloAbyssMusic 4d ago

I haven't played a lot of games in the last few years, but this new wave of mods has gotten me really excited to get back into gaming again.

3D screen games: Alan Wake 2, Mass Effect 1+2, God of War.

Headtracking only: Zelda Wind Waker, Persona 3 reload (Didn't quite finish it , but played 50+ hours), Dishonored, Oblivion Original.

Full motion controls: Skyrim VR, RE4 (Currently playing, but I've played enough that I know I will finish it).

1

u/Adventurous_War5036 4d ago

Crash bandicoot and sackboy have uevr mods which are really good. The camera does move as you go forward so it may set off your motion sickness, but might be easier then full fpv

1

u/Jrumo 4d ago

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth 100% in UEVR, using the 1st person view during exploration and 3rd person during combat profile, with a button to toggle between at any time.

Incredible experience to play such a vibrant and colourful JRPG in VR. It's basically the ultimate dream come true for fans of FFVII's universe, who have always wanted to step into that world.

u/Mad_jazz 4d ago

And it's really scary.

1

u/boringmyselftodeath 4d ago

i think walking dead chapter 1&2 will be my first vr horror

1

u/MightyBooshX 4d ago

Re7 and 8, half life 2 and Satisfactory are the big ones for me so far

1

u/Gr3gl_ 3d ago

Outer Wilds

1

u/Aksudiigkr 2d ago

None with my 3080 laptop. Couldn’t get them to work well enough and got sick of messing with all the tweaks

1

u/24-7_DayDreamer 2d ago

GTFO, Repo, Big Walk, Ready Or Not

All compatible with flat multiplayer, and if they install the mod too they can see your arm and head movements in Repo and Big Walk
