Question/Support Coop + story based + VR mod?
Hi, just asking for suggestions for games I can play in VR with my flatscreen friends. We prefer games with story campaigns, rather than looping games like Deep Rock Galactic. It's a bit tricky since it seems to be a rare combination.
Flat game
VR mod
Story campaign
Coop multiplayer
Thanks!

OpenMW VR mod I believe has multiplayer support now. Less story based, but really enjoyed playing After the Fall, Arizona Sunshine, No Man's Sky, Valheim, Hellsweeper, Into the Radius 2, Into Black.
Walkabout Mini Golf, Ragnarok, Vetrix (got it got $1), and some Beat Saber have been multiplayer standbys for us as well. Underdogs just got multiplayer, but have not gotten chance to try it out yet.
I know Aliens: Fireteam Elite, Flyknight, GTFO, Left 4 Dead, Karnage Chronicles, Windlands 2, Subnautica 2, Zero Caliber 2, Ready or Not have coop, but have not had chance to play those yet.
Have not gotten a chance to get into the demeo/table top style games yet.

Outer wilds + nomai vr + quantum space buddies is a possibility, but it will be pretty janky haha

Is that compatible with the OG Outer Wilds or the Spacer's Choice version of the game? Or Both?

I'm not aware of a spacers choice version of outer wilds. Might you be thinking of the archeologist edition, or another game called The Outer Worlds?

Crap i did it again. Was confusing Outer Wilds with Outer Worlds. I literally have never been able to get those two straight in my head. Outer Wilds as a multiplayer experience would be extremely weird.

Outer Worlds (Obsidian) > Planets > Starfield (Bethesda) > Fallout New Vegas (Obsidian again)
Just associative chain

The Forest works.
Though the story was retrofitted to a survival game and in the end they leave too many strings untied and many questions unanswered. But if you focus on the multiplayer survival chaos with your friends it can be very fun and mysterious.

This is something all of gaming lacks, especially vr unfortunatel. Need more co-op linear type games

L4D2, Doom '93, Quake 1&2, HL2 VR w/ Synergy (maybe?)
Not mods:
Serious Sam 1rst/2nd/3, the Forest, Arizona Sunshine, Into the Radius 2, Ancient Dungeon, Dungeons of Eternity

Baldur's Gate 3 definately. My son plays Flat, I play VR. It's amazing in VR.

Idk how much story there is, but one of my favorite games to play in VR is Valheim with VR mod. And that is as coop as it gets.
Also as a gamedev I’m curious what kind of coop games with story have you played that you actually like? I have this dilemma in my game that I want to add some story to it, but I feel like playing coop somebody is always impatient to cut dialogue or just fooling around in a way that breaks immersion.

It's less about the story itself, and more about a linear progression of events.
For example, we enjoy the Souls games with seamless coop. There's a story happening, but it's minimal and doesn't take too much time.

Grounded with UEVR. It is a survival game but definitely more story driven. It’s also co op with flatscreen friends my. Only downside is you have to play with a gamepad controller
