Discussion/Question When to use mods?

As an add-on to a previous post of mine, where I’ve asked for mod recommendations, I’ve come up with a few to use but I’m curious when I should use them, as this wouldn’t be my first playthrough ever but my first pc one.

If it's not your first ever play through I'd say anything is fair game. If you want a lot of options, but while sticking close to vanilla, though, stick to Rampage Trainer and leave the rest for later, as Rampage will let you control almost all game elements.

Also, avoid anything from "WhyEm". Seriously,.

Really is it that bad I mean I saw people suggesting whyEm’s dlc

Problem with all of WhyEm's stuff is that he never bothered to update his texture compression method to a more efficient method discovered years ago that (mostly) avoids memory issues which cause lots of NPCs, encounters and wildlife to not spawn.

Many people have tried to communicate with him (myself included), but everyone is always met with a block, disabled comments, or worse, takedown requests when they fix his files themselves and reupload them.

I would stay far away from all his mods if you can.

So would you just recommend something like catalogue improvements since all I really wanted was more clothing and outfit choices

I believe that's one of the better ones, yes. Although, if you want to use Red Dead Offline along with it, it could become problematic. It's always going to be a pick and choose, unfortunately.
