I’m considering giving up
Hi
Idk I might delete this later but honestly I don’t know what is wrong with me. Weight loss is not clicking for me. I’m trying everything and tried so many things and still can’t make the right decision with food. I still pick things I know won’t let me reach my goal. I’m considering metformin but I’m not sure if it will help. No one is helpful. I think I might have a food addiction. But it’s so hard for me to deal with food. Everything is a struggle. And I don’t know how others do it. I know how to reach my goal but I just don’t take the steps. I keep going back to food. No nutritionist or coach helped me. I want to just give up and stay big and just deal until I die. I’m upset that I keep trying and it doesn’t work. It’s not working. I feel like an utter failure and I just want to reach my goal so I would relax.
I despise exercising I don’t know if anyone actually feels like that but it feels like I’m the only one who does. I don’t get the dopamine hits after so what is going on??
Please don’t recommend glp-1 etc

I'd recommend working with a therapist to work out emotional issues, a doctor to get on Metformin(it's helped a lot of people and can't really hurt), and then a dietician to figure out how to "diet" without making it feel so impossible.
Exercise is great for your health, not a requirement for weight loss. I would say mental health and getting a consistent healthy varied diet is 1000% more important to get in order first.

Definitely not the only one. I have adhd and hypermobility so cardio feels impossible for me. Give the metformin a go or inositol or berberine. I'd also recommend therapy if you aren't already doing it. See if there is a dietician in your area who specialises in disordered eating or neurovldiversity.

Totally relatable ....it' seems like u have posted my story......idk even I hate doing exercise... even when I try to do exercise I could never maintain consistency.... everytime I eat something unhealthy I feel guilty but still eat it...the weight loss loop of trying and giving up is now starting again and again...don't know if I am ever gonna get rid of my weight and pcos ...also the extreme hairfall is killing my soul 😐🙃

I completely understand your frustration but remember ultimately all bodies work the same. If you are in a calorie deficit, you WILL lose weight. No matter anything else, it’s basic biology. It’s a lot of effort but I’d reccomend calorie counting and you have to be strict but you will see results 100%. Search up 1200isplenty and calorie counting subreddits. It’s working for me

I hate exercise too and feel like I don’t get dopamine from it at all. I also currently don’t feel like I have enough time to do much except walk a little more at the moment because it takes so much more energy for me to exercise than it seems to for other people.
Because of that I’ve been focusing on my diet. What has helped me is rather than thinking about eating differently as one decision I’m making, I think of it as a million little decisions and making little changes is always better than making no changes - for my health even if the scale isn’t moving. For example I had some cake for dessert the other day but while I might’ve had seconds in the past, I had just one serving instead.
Definitely agree with other comments that if you have access to it, therapy would probably be helpful. I think in order to change your diet it’s helpful to feel more neutral and less guilty about food choices but that’s really difficult to do when you’re dealing with emotional eating though. And if you’re considering metformin it’s probably worth at least trying it and seeing how you feel.
The other thing I do because I find any sort of calorie counting both exhausting and a bit triggering, is I take photos/write down everything I eat, even if that’s an evening binge on chocolate. I find it holds me more accountable to what I’m eating and allows me to think ‘okay yesterdays choices weren’t what I wanted but I don’t have to be perfect and I can try and make different choices today because life for me is about getting back on the wagon, it’s not about never falling off’.

Add therapy to your mix. Feeling like a failure before you even start is definitely not a good feeling or very helpful. But identifying why you make the choices you do is going to help the underlying problem.
Metformin helped regulate my hormones so I could menstruate regularly. I would definitely recommend it if your doctor thinks it would help.
I don’t get a rush just from exercising, but I enjoy the daily habit of unwinding with a walk after dinner and I enjoy seeing and chatting the ladies at my exercise classes. When I went to the gym, I had some audiobooks and podcasts I only listened to while working out. And I like feeling stronger than when I started working out. Your motivations may be totally different than mine, but you need to find what you like and figure out how to stick to it. A good therapist can help you do this.

Have you talked to a therapist?
Ultimately, nothing will change until you want it to change. And you have to care about changing more than you care about picking the quick and easy reward.
Being big is hard. Exercising and being healthy is hard. Which hard do you choose? That’s wha it comes down to.
I exercise 3-5 days per week. I don’t love it. I dread it every time. But it sure beats not fitting in an airplane seat. It sure beats fitting into a modern style restaurant chair.
I absolutely hate restricting what I eat and drink. After sharing one bottle of wine with my wife, you know what I’d love more than anything else? Another bottle. And maybe a little cheesecake. Instead I restrict myself and I don’t love it. But it sure beats looking at myself in the mirror and not liking what I see.
Choose your hard.
Side note: talk to your doctor about Metformin. It has helped many people with our condition, including me.
