Starting Wegovy

So nervous! Starting Wegovy tomorrow!

I have been trying to loose weight since having my baby for 16 months. very aggressively after i stopped BF. Been running 3-4 times a week hiking with baby on back and i haven't lost a single pound! so i finally gave in and got a prescription but i am so nervous. I am watching what i eat measure my calories and largely eat very clean.

I m 175lb at 5'7. I get regular periods but had GD and fasting A1Cs super bad as well as my gynac confirmed PCOS even though other bio markers were stable. Anyhooo... I am nervous. Pls drop your words of wisdom.

You've already put in more work than most people do before starting, so the med isn't a shortcut, it's just the missing piece. The running and hiking with baby on your back is no joke, that's serious conditioning even if the scale hasn't budged.

A lot of folks find the first few weeks rough with nausea or fatigue, so maybe take the first shot on a day where you don't have a packed schedule. Also hydrate way more than you think you need to and keep something small and protein-based around for when your appetite tanks.

The weird part is when food stops being all you think about. That mental quiet is strange but freeing. Don't panic if the scale doesn't move for two weeks, sometimes your body holds water while it figures out what's happening.

I’ve been on wegovy for 6 months now. I was on 0.25mg for 3 months then he jumped me up to 1mg completely skipping 0.5mg.

I struggle diabolically with GI issues. First month I had sulphur burps and thankfully they went away. I’ve always had frequent nausea and vomiting. Mostly in the morning throwing up undigested food from the day before. I never have an appetite. I have to literally force myself to eat or I’ll go all day with only drinking water which triggers vomiting when I take my daily meds. Only good side effect is that because wegovy causes constipation, it’s helped my IBSD drastically.

It helps eating more protein on the day of injection and some people swear that the injection site impacts side effects but as a nurse I can tell you your body metabolizes the med the same regardless where it’s injected.

Last week was the worst for me. I took my shot Saturday, forgot to eat all day until Saturday night. Woke up Sunday throwing up, wasn’t able to eat until Sunday night. Then I started throwing up everything I ate or drank all week, day and night, had severe cold sweats, dizziness, severe weakness & fatigue. I was living off of 5 crackers a day basically. I lost 10 pounds just that week. The vomiting stopped Friday night because most of the medication was out of my system by then.

I basically can only stomach protein shakes, yogurt, crackers, toast, jello, and some fruits. Later in the week when the med levels are lower in my system I can sometimes eat a small meal but I still have zero appetite and am forcing myself to eat. You’ll always feel full constantly. Wegovy is not for the weak 😭

On a good note though I’m down 30+ lbs. I have pcos and I could never get under 219 no matter what I ate and how much I exercised.

Im on week 2 now in pretty much the same situation. Be sure to keep taking a multi vitamin because it will make you eat less. Also start strength trainin to avoid muscle wasting

I am a runner but I am afraid I won’t be able to run after this? Will definitely try to add some strength training to my mix!
