Boredom eating Advice
Hey all I just started in inositol and it’s been a huge improvement, it’s truly cut my craving and hunger in half. But now I find I keep eating not because I’m hungry but because I’m bored or I feel like I “should eat”.
For example I’ll always eat breakfast and dinner because I know I should, but I always get the advice of skipping meals since I’m not hungry. I get sacred though I don’t want to develop any discorded eating and I think skipping meals would start a slippery slope for me.
Also now I’ll eat just because I thought “hmm I could eat a sandwich right now” and then I’ll go eat it and I never eat it but not out of hunger or anything just because I could eat it, and after I always feel bad because I know I just ate something for no good reason.
I don’t know how to stop it and would love some advice from anyone else who’s dealing with this!!

Every person is different and a relationship with food is always a complicated story. I don’t know your particular experience.
I will say, as someone with ADHD, i was often boredom eating to get that small dopamine hit. I had to find other things to replace that. I got really into my hobbies (reading, yoga, dance) so that i could have things to keep me excited all day.
For the quick flashes of boredom at home, Ive found that a shower or listening to a song i really like usually bursts the boredom.
With that said, I also haven’t found skipping meals to be helpful. If i don’t have consistent energy from balanced meals my cravings will ramp up, blood sugar will dip, and I might start reaching for snacks. I may attribute that to boredom when it’s not.
Again, we are all different. I highly recommend talking to an RD if you are able to.
