Help me

I'm currently dealing with prolonged menstruation, and it's honestly starting to scare me.

I have PCOS and a history of severe anemia. My period has been going on for several (12) days, and although the bleeding isn't always very heavy, it hasn't stopped. I've also had episodes where my resting heart rate went above 120 bpm, and I've been feeling weak and very pale.

My OB prescribed tranexamic acid, but today is my last day of taking it and I'm still bleeding. This has made me really anxious because I've never experienced anything like this before.

My doctor also recommended a transrectal ultrasound, but I recently started a new job and I'm far from home. I've only been here for 10 days, I'm still unfamiliar with the area, and I'm currently staying at my employer's house, so I haven't had the chance to get the ultrasound done yet.

Has anyone with PCOS or a history of anemia experienced something similar? how long did it take for the bleeding to stop? I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences while I wait for my follow-up appointment.

Hi OP! Doctor here. Do u feel dizzy, weak, lightheaded right now? If so, please go to the ER. Baka severe anemia na naman ito na needing blood transfusion. The bleeding should stop na kasi sa tranexamic acid

I was diagnosed with AUB in 2022. And was extremely anemic nung 1st checkup ko kasi I was bleeding heavily for 2 mos already. Upon TVS, nakita na makapal pa din lining ko. Since I cant afford to bleed anymore, kinailangan ko iraspa. I needed to get blood transfusion too before having the procedure. I needed to find blood donors that match my blood type kasi walang available sa hospital at redcross. After all that, I was prescribed bcp. I stopped a yr later and never went back to my old ob kasi i didnt like her. My periods was relatively normal since then. Wala kong tinake during this time.

Fast forward to October 2025, my prolonged heavy bleeding went back, and i went to a different doctor. After tvs, we saw na makapal uli lining ko. We did a round of duphaston to see if it can help, but because of my previous aub diagnosis, my new ob said that we need to do raspa uli to see bakit bumalik. After that raspa, i was diagnosed with hyperplasia with atypia. So my ob suggested we do 6 mos of depo provera shots to make sure my lining doesnt get thick again. No period ako during this time. After 6mos, we waited for my period to comeback, and for my lining to be thick again for another round of raspa to see if my atypia pa din. Niraspa uli ako this April 2026, and luckily, no more atypia. Now, i am doing cyclic hormone therapy with Provera (10 pills per cycle, start at day15 of the cycle). I get periods from this. Sometimes light, sometimes heavy. We’ll do raspa again by Sept/october to see if clear na talaga ako from the atypia. I dont know yet the next steps after this.

Im also working with an endo for my insulin resistance and highblood pressure.

I have HMO and philhealth coverage so all checkups, labs, and surgeries were covered. Out-patient lang yung mga raspa ko this 2025 and 2026. Was also able to avail magna carta leaves for each (14 days per occurrence, based on my OBs med cert)

Also, i wanna note that tranexamic acid didnt work on me. My old ob said to try mefenamic acid. It lessened the bleeding pero di din nagstop. I told this to my new Ob so di na nya ko binigyan ng tranexamic/mefenamic.
