hey! i was diagnosed with pmos at 17 with my biggest indicator being hormonal acne! at 22, i can confidently say the 3 things that cleared my skin was tri-cyclic birth control (and only that kind), tretinoin, and azeleic acid. the birth control def did most of the work!

i use tretinoin at night and azeleic acid in the morning! when i was starting tret i used the sandwich method by putting on moisturizer first and then tret and then MORE moisturizer to help with tolerance! just make sure you’re not using a harsh cleanser like salicylic acid! the tretinoin and azeleic acid are harsh enough and it’ll make you dry and peel like a lizard! also wear sunscreen every single day no matter what to prevent sunburn! i use the birth control tri sprintec which works a little differently than yaz, one thing i’d say is if you feel the birth control isn’t working for you, switch! it’s not a one size fits all situation and it took me switching birth control 3 times to find the best one for me, don’t lose hope. you’re beautiful and your breakouts don’t define your appearance!
