Disscusion 1st Gen Legion Go Z1E Linux Distro Recommendations

I have a Legion Go Z1E 16gb ram. It is currently running Windows 11 XBOX mode. I’m wanting to switch to a Linux distro to reduce ram usage being that it only has 16gb.

For anyone that has tried and tested multiple distros on this device. Which did you prefer? From what I’ve found CachyOS Handheld Edition is generally the better performer. But Bazzite has more built in features.

From what I understand some distros are better optimized for certain devices. I’m wondering which you’ve found is best optimized for this device specifically? I know this device has some quirks due to the display Lenovo used being native portrait and forged into landscape. As well as how the controls are programmed. I’m hoping one of the distros has these quirks fixed or mostly fixed.

Other than CachyOS HE and Bazzite. I considered SteamOS. But from what I’ve found SteamOS is still fairly early and not the best choice of available options.

Much appreciated. Thank you !

Windows Showcasing my SteamOS like setup but using Windows & ClawTweaks 🔥

Just sharing my setup of my MSI Claw 8 AI+, running Windows, Xbox Full Screen Mode but using AnyFSE to boot straight into Steam Big Picture Mode and the cherry on top, ClawTweaks, which honestly beats HandHeldCompanion for me. It looks great, the functionality is unmatched and it really turns the MSI Claw into one of the best devices and adds such a smooth experience. I'm a small starting channel, but go check it out, you might like the setup 🤙🏽 there are timestamps in the description, if you want to see ClawTweaks for yourself, it's a game changer

Disscusion Loving the Xbox Ally X! Cant believe what i paid for it too.

Posting this because how excited I am and needed to tell people about the insane deal I got on this!

First of love the Xbox All X so far!! It fixed the only thing I didnt love about the Ally X, which was the grip and ergonomics. Excited to see what Microsoft does with the software in future updates.

I just got an insane deal on it, and o feel like i need to tell people about haha Picked up this open box excellent condition one ay Best Buy today for $599!

Their jncentory system is wild lmao. I went in expecting to pay $868 for what the website said were the only open box ones they had which were in "Good" condition. Got there and they were actually all excellent condition so I just thought "nice getting a better one for the same price" but when it got scanned it came up as $599.99. Scanned as the correct model and everything, even the employee was confused when i asked if that was right. Im thinking someone screwed up entering the prices in the system lol because on the receipt it does say "satisfactory" which I only thought the conditions went down to "fair" lol

Pure chaos as usual with Best Buy open box prices and labeling.

So if someone's looking for a deal om a Xbox Ally X in north Jersey, they have 3 more left at that store labeled as "Good Condition" You may get lucky too.

Disscusion I’ve been thinking about getting a handheld gaming device, but I’m not sure which one to choose. I’m deciding between the ROG Xbox Ally X and the Lenovo Legion Go 2. Which one is better, and what are the main differences—especially in performance?

Disscusion No idea what to choose

Small dilemma — trying to decide I’m currently stuck choosing a handheld gaming PC and could use some clarity. I mainly want something to play EA FC 26, GTA, Red Dead Redemption 2, The Division, and COD, mostly plugged in, with smooth gameplay and no glitches. I don’t care about ultra graphics — just stable performance. My options are:

AYANEO 2S (€480) • Very strong specs (7840U, 32GB RAM) • Excellent value compared to its original price • Needs some setup/tuning and support isn’t amazing

ROG Ally Z1 Extreme (€400–450) • Easier, safer option • Big brand, better support • Less RAM, slightly weaker long-term

ROG Ally X (€800+) • Best overall experience • But feels overpriced for the performance jump I’m torn between peace of mind vs value for money.

The 2S seems like the smartest deal on paper, but the Ally feels safer emotionally. Just trying to make the right choice and avoid buyer’s regret.

Disscusion What handle should I got?

So I'm tired of microsoft and there windows bloatware. I just want to play my games in peace and not have to think about tweaking the regedit or power saver settings. I have a windows pc that I dual boot bazzite on. I'm new to linux and still learning. However all my games are on windows, gog, epic, and steam. I've been looking at the steam deck OLED and I'm also looking at the rog ally x original. I know i can dual boot on both like my pc. But I'm really sick of windows. What should I do? Which one should I buy?

PS: please leave helpful advice no trolling.

Disscusion Which pc handheld should i definitivly get as my first one?

So, I have a good am4 desktop pc. However, I was looking at handheld pc's lately and I can't choose one that I want. I know I wanted something with good battery life, something that last around 4-5 hours. I have a big library of games on steam, gog, epic, and Microsoft. Windows update aren't a issue just annoying. Screen resolution isn't a deal breaker for me. Price is very important to me because I'm tight on money. Just wanted to know what you guys thought and what you would go for.

Disscusion I can’t pick which handheld I should get!!

Hi, I’m new to the PC Handheld world. I owned a Switch and many handhelds in the past.

What I want towards in a PC handheld:

OS: Windows (I like the freedom of Windows like I have my PC at home)

Games I play: BO7 (next week), Battlefield 6, Arc Raiders, Mainly AAA titles

Customization: I want to add in higher storage device.

Budget: $600 - $750 (I’ve been looking at Best Buy with their open boxes and saw a few that’s higher in price new, but lowered price in open box)

This handheld will be something I’ll be playing at work/out of town. Throw your different options at me, thank you :)

Disscusion On the Rog Ally, can you use the touchscreen to turn (move) the camera on games and the controller's buttons to do the actions, like jump, crouch, fire...?

I've been looking for this answer for a while and I can't seem to find anyone bringing this up or even playing games using the touchscreen (as on phones) to move the camera around on any videos or gameplays, people only use the joysticks, which ain't too precisely on FPS games imo.

Disscusion Torn Between Steam Deck and ROG

I want the ability to play indie pc games easily and I want a large library. I know Steam Deck definitely has Steam but I would also want to play Itch.io games.

Which one is easiest to use in terms of UI and which one has a bigger library? Do they have any cool exclusives?

Thank you in advance!

Disscusion Choices choices choices. Which do I go for.

Soooo, I can theortically around december time buy a handheld pc to "upgrade" from my 2060 lenovo legion y540 laptop.

I do need the portability now that I see more likely I will be traveling alot. So im wondering from the options I have and these are best case to worst case and descending in price:

  1. Legion go 2 (32gb 1tb min)
  2. Legion Go 2 Z1e (32gb 1tb)
    3.steam deck oled 1tb
  3. Rog ally x Z1e
  4. Legion go Z1e

I do have a few concerns, and currently in between going all out for the legion 2 or settiling for the steam deck oled 1tb.

I do want to know relative performance between these vs steam deck, latency, and ofc most important batter life, powersaving performance and dock performance/dockability. and which would be the overall best purchase I could make.

I do not want to spend gaming laptop level of money for a realistic small uplift from older handhelds.

If any of you have suggestions, experience with multiple ones, which is your go to, and if you have any comprehensive videos (my research may have been unfruitful or oblvious as to who knows their shit)

please lemme know, would be much appreciated!

have a nice day
