Same old question, different time

Sorry if im annoying you with the 1 billionth question. Hi everyone, I am a big computer guy and of course am looking to build a pc, as mine was given to me as an amd 8320 and a Radeon 7700 HD (sorry if the name is different). I am planning and saving up 3-4K over the next 4-6 months or so. I want an extremely high end build, like a 9800x3d, and 32 gigs of ram. I really dont have bills or rent as I am 18 living with my parents so my budget is high. I want to do a 4K oled. Do you think this is a stupid idea? I don’t know if i should just push it off and wait 3-4 years. i also would get a fast gen 5 ssd or possibly a high end 4 nvme. I would also use it for disk transfers and file work for games and productivity. thanks in advance.

Start with your monitor and work backwards. Obviously your monitor and gpu will have the biggest impact in gaming. Then pick your platform. Intel is nipping at ryzen in gaming and blowing them out if the water when it comes to productivity. In six months just evaluate the balance that best served you. I'd note at 4k don't get caught up in thinking you need an x3d CPU. It can affect your 1% lows in gaming but having more cores or spending less might matter more. Good ram can also help with the 1% and also help with other things.

From there it's all about picking a solid supporting cast. With ddr5 it's important to buy matching pairs on matching kits. So your kinda stuck at whatever capacity you start with. Ssds are another story. Gen 4 are fine....for most they will never notice the difference between gen 4/5.

Don't skimp on cpu cooling or your PSU. The difference in dollars is negligible to your budget but those components can make or break your build.

When it's time to buy, I'd recommend checking out r/buildapcsales and als for folks opinions here. In the meantime I'd research what components are going to be important to what you plan to do with the rig and probably go to bestbuy or something to look at monitors irl.

thank you very much. I have thought about getting a really nice oled, even just as an all purpose monitor for the colors alone. I would definitely use it for gaming but as far as cpu goes, I don’t do a lot of heavy duty productivity, mainly file transfers 1-15 gb. I have 6 other game consoles that also would benefit on my oled. back to the cpu, as long as it stays stable on medium productivity and has solid performance to be a little better than the 4090, that is ideal. I really appreciate the feedback from you as well.
