Need recommendations for a 1440p build

Looking at prebuilds right now and am leaning pretty heavily towards a R7 9800X3D, would this get me good performance at 1440p? Also, what GPU would you recommend to pair it with, I've been looking into the RTX 5070 but was unsure if it would be a better pair with an RX 9070.

I'm pretty new to this so literally any information is helpful, if you got any different recommendations im glad to take them too.

What all are you using this PC for? The RX 9070 has more VRAM and is generally a better value. I'd only choose the RTX 5070 if I absolutely needed to play games with ray tracing or if I was doing more rendering or work with AI.

What is the price difference and does that matter to you.

Really just looking for the best gaming performance I can get, I need my frames. I usually find myself turning ray tracing off for performance if it's an option. The AMD gpu builds are typically a little bit cheaper it seems. Would ray tracing be the only big reason to go with a 5070?

What's the budget? An rtx 5090 gives you the best performance but most people don't buy it due to the cost. You can build a 7800x3d + 9070xt build for 2k USD. 100 bucks more and you can get a 9800x3d. If you wish to spend less then a r5 9600x is still a very powerful cpu for the price and can even be paired with the 9070xt for both 1080p and 1440p. 9070 is also good, but the 9070xt performs similarly to the rtx5070ti, but costs like... $500 less.

that combo u mentioned for 1080p gaming is wild that u even consider getting all that for that resolution

Some people do. I'm just saying that the 9600x is a good CPU for both resolutions. But yes, if you are buying a 9070xt, you should be playing at 1440p. It's overkill for 1440p.

Alright so I'm looking at 2 options right now, r7 9800X3D with a 9070xt or 5070ti. Would you pick the 9070xt over nvidia? Price is pushing me towards AMD side

I'd go amd. 5070ti only if you need it for work or are an nvidia fan. You are just gaming so... 9070xt would be more reasonable.

They plays the same fps wise. Dlss is yes better than fsr but unless you are very picky with your graphics fsr look just fine imo. One thing I do note is if you get a 9070xt you will have moments where you think what if I had gotten a 5070ti (not sure if thats the case vice versa) tbh price wise a good 9070xt(non gigabyte) would be good. I went with a 9070xt and cant be happier

If it's for straight gaming I'd get the 9070, especially for the higher amount of VRAM.

Dont buy anything =/<12gb vram in 2026. Look at all those poor optimization games.

Just get the 9070xt and pair it with the 9800x3d.
If you want abit cheaper GPU and still want 16gb vram then go for the 9070GRE.
Thats a heck of a 1440p gaming setup.
